Dermot O’Leary thinks Olly Murs should become a judge on ‘The X Factor’.
The 44-year-old presenter – who was temporarily replaced by the singer as the show’s host in 2015 – has admitted he’d love to see the ‘Dear Darlin’ hitmaker claim a seat on the panel in future because he’s doing such a good job on ‘The Voice’.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: "We feel like Olly’s one of ours, so you’d rather have him on ‘X Factor’ than on a rival. I do think in the future Olly will become a good panel member, he’s done a really good job on ‘The Voice’."
However, it’s highly unlikely Simon Cowell will want him on his panel as he was reportedly fuming when he found out that Olly had jumped ships without telling him.
The 33-year-old singer said recently: "I haven’t heard from Simon. But you know, if he’s upset, then…
"I don’t believe in rivalries. ‘X Factor’ was an incredible part of my life and now I’m taking the next chapter and becoming a coach here on ‘The Voice’. I’m loving it and there’s no hard feelings from me, anyway. If he wants to call me, call me."
Olly was chosen as a mentor on ‘The Voice’ by bosses after they axed Gavin Rossdale – who has kids Kingston, 11, Zuma, nine, and Apollo, three, with his former partner Gwen Stefani, as well as 28-year-old Daisy Lowe with Pearl Lowe – from the programme last year as they didn’t feel like he had the right energy.
Olly said: "When ‘The Voice’ came calling it was just, ‘Yeah I want to do this,’ because I think it’s an incredible show and I knew being amongst these amazing coaches not only would I learn loads, I’ll grow as a character and I also want to help people and that’s the most amazing thing."
