Olly Murs reveals the ‘stick’ he received for Take Me Out appearance

Olly Murs "couldn’t believe" the amount of abuse he received after appearing on ‘Take Me Out’.
The chart-topping pop star went on the ITV dating show in November last year in a bid to find love – and Olly was shocked by the subsequent reaction from some of his friends.
He shared: "I couldn’t believe the amount of stick I got for that. I had all these messages on Instagram and Twitter, and even my friends and family messaging me, saying: ‘Olly do you really seriously have to go on Take Me Out to find a girl?’ ‘You must be able to find a girl without going on a show’."
Olly has been single since splitting from property developer Francesca Thomas 18 months ago.
And although he has subsequently been on dates with a number of different girls, Olly is yet to find the "right one".
He told The Sun newspaper: "I’ve met girls and had dates and I’ve done all that, but it’s just trying to find the right one. You have to go out and have fun with the wrong ones in a sense to find the right ones."
Olly revealed, too, that he’s not as confident as he may seem to fans and TV viewers when it comes to his appearance.
He explained: "I’ve never been the best looking guy in the room but I’ve always got a personality and I’m a bit of an entertainer."
Last year, meanwhile, Olly admitted he feared becoming "grey and old" before he’s found love.
The 33-year-old singer said: "For me the future is a bit uncertain, I don’t know where I’ll be, or who I’ll be with. I can’t not think about it. Finding that person, it’s hard.
"The one thing I don’t want is to be grey, old and never fall in love, and to never be with someone."
