Olly Murs hasn’t heard from Simon Cowell since he joined ‘The Voice’.
the ‘Dear Darlin’ hitmaker announced that he will be coaching on the ITV singing show alongside Jennifer Hudson, will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones when the new series hits screens in 2018, but he thinks he may have upset the music mogul – who employed him as the host of ‘X Factor’ in 2015 – by jumping ships without telling him.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Thursday (19.10.17), the 33-year-old singer said: "I haven’t heard from Simon. But you know, if he’s upset, then…
"I don’t believe in rivalries. ‘X Factor’ was an incredible part of my life and now I’m taking the next chapter and becoming a coach here on ‘The Voice’. I’m loving it and there’s no hard feelings from me, anyway. If he wants to call me, call me."
But, despite the suspected animosity between him and Simon, Olly can’t wait to get stuck into the show and is determined to do all he can to help his acts win the series.
He said: "I’m absolutely buzzing about being a coach on ‘The Voice UK’ and can’t wait to sit in the big red chair alongside will, Jennifer and Tom.
"I’m excited to mentor new artists and without doubt, I’m in it to WIN!"
Olly was chosen as a mentor on ‘The Voice’ by bosses after they axed Gavin Rossdale – who has kids Kingston, 11, Zuma, nine, and Apollo, three, with his former partner Gwen Stefani, as well as 28-year-old Daisy Lowe with Pearl Lowe – from the programme earlier this year as they didn’t feel like he had the right energy.
Jennifer, will.i.am and Sir Tom were also involved in last year’s series.
