Odds slashed on Cheryl Tweedy joining Strictly judging panel

Cheryl Tweedy is odds-on favourite to replace Bruno Tonioli on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

After the BBC confirmed that Bruno will not be able to travel back to the UK from the US for filming, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, bookmakers Coral slashed the odds on Cheryl, 37, taking over.

She is now at 1-2 to be a judge on ‘Strictly’ this year, with Len Goodman at 2-1, Anton Du Beke at 5-2 and James Jordan at 4-1.

Coral’s John Hill said: "Following the news that Bruno has confirmed that he will not be able to make the show this year, Cheryl is now odds-on in our betting to replace the judge on the panel in 2020.

"Len Goodman is next best in the betting to make a return to the show just for this year in what would be a smooth replacement given his experience in the seat."

Meanwhile, ‘It Takes Two’ co-host previously tipped Cheryl as the perfect replacement as she has previously judged on ‘The X Factor’ and ‘The Greatest Dancer’.

He said: "If Bruno does have to stick with ‘Dancing with the Stars’, it’ll be really sad and he’ll be really missed.

"But Cheryl would be great and is lovely. I’ve met her a couple of times and she’s always so sweet, and talks to everyone. But I am very low down in the ‘Strictly’ chain, so my opinion won’t matter at all!"
