NWA inducted to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

NWA have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in New York.
The legendary rap group from Compton, California are just the fifth hip-hop act to be voted into the hall, and their induction comes on the back of three previous nominations.
Founding member Ice Cube said: "Rock and roll is not conforming to the people who came before you, but creating your own path in music and in life.
"We have come a long way from being so hated in the industry to making it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Are we rock and roll? You’re damn right we’re rock and roll."
Cube’s remarks come on the back of criticism of the decision to include a rap group in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with Kiss frontman Gene Simmons among those to have questioned the move.
NWA were hugely influential in the so-called gangster rap genre and their rise to fame was charted in the 2015 film ‘Straight Outta Compton’, which was named after one of their best-known tracks.
Meanwhile, Cheap Trick, Chicago and British band Deep Purple were among the other acts included in the Hall of Fame.
