Noel Gallagher has admitted that Robert De Niro had no idea who he was when they had a meal together.
The 49-year-old musician enjoyed a lengthy lunch with the 73-year-old actor in the South of France last month, and ended up dining with him for a whopping eight hours.
Now, the former Oasis star has revealed that the Hollywood legend had no idea who he was when he was introduced to the ‘Raging Bull’ star.
The ‘Wonderwall’ hitmaker said: "I sat next to him and I’ve got to say he didn’t have a clue who I was. As he was leaving, he said, ‘Write down the name of that band again that you were in.’
"We had this lunch that started at one o’clock in the afternoon … and he left at about eight or nine. He was there for about eight hours. If I ever have the pleasure of meeting him again, he’ll just go, ‘I’ve never met this guy.’ "
But the lack of recognition from the ‘Taxi Driver’ star didn’t get the rock star down as he shared his excitement on social media in the wake of their meet-up.
When the pair met last month, the 49-year-old musician posted a photo of himself an De Niro on Instagram, taken by his wife Sara MacDonald.
The caption read: "So we’ve been down to The South Of France for a few days and at a 17 hour lunch at our friends house THIS..THIS.. Actually happened!!! Photo by Saspg. X (sic)"
