Noah Cyrus has been "struggling with depression".
The 18-year-old singer – who is the younger sister of Miley Cyrus – is set to release her debut studio album later this year, and has said the music on the record will discuss her "emotions", including how to feels to battle anxiety and depression as a young adult in the age of the Internet.
Speaking to L’Officiel USA, Noah said: "This EP is mostly just about how my emotions have been, and about my anxiety, and about how I’ve been struggling with depression, and how it’s okay to feel those feelings.
"A lot of people like to judge you, and make fun of you on the Internet, and people make you feel crazy whenever you’re in a depression or having anxiety or having a panic attack. It’s about that and being sad and having your emotions and not being able to ignore the feelings you’re having."
Last year, the ‘Stay Together’ singer – who is in relationship with rapper Lil Xan – had to turn the comments off on her Instagram account after she was barraged with people claiming she "doesn’t love" her older sister Miley.
Noah was accused of forgetting the ‘Malibu’ singer when she got three tattoos in dedication to her family members, but later insisted she didn’t get a tattoo for Miley at the time because they already have matching ink.
And when asked during an interview if she had missed out 25-year-old Miley because "she didn’t love [her] enough", Noah said: "That’s everything I’m getting on my Instagram comments so come on! Miley and I already have matching tattoos, we have matching teardrop tattoos."
Noah was then asked if she always read the comments on her posts, and she replied: "Absolutely! I mean, it’s hard when these people are so annoying. I might have to turn them [Instagram comments] off soon."
