Nirvana’s Incesticide for vinyl reissue

The grunge group’s compilation album, which was first released in December 1992 and features tunes ‘Sliver’ and ‘Son of a Gun’, will be remastered by engineer Bernie Grundman for a new double-vinyl in 2017 to mark the record’s 25th anniversary.
Bernie has used the original analog master tapes for the vinyl audio.
The record will be released on January 13 in the US but it’s not known when or if it will be coming to the UK.
‘Incesticide’ featured various recordings from the band – who were made up of Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic – including B-sides, outtakes, demos, covers and radio broadcasts.
What’s more, it also featured recordings by four drummers, Chad Channing – who was the stickman on the group’s 1989 debut album ‘Bleach’ – Dan Peters, Dale Crover and Dave.
The album reached number 39 on the Billboard 200 chart and it is said Kurt – who took his own life in April 1994 aged 27 – permitted the release because he was allowed complete control of the artwork.
Other songs on the record include ‘Downer’ – which was originally released on ‘Bleach’ – ‘Stain’, which featured on the ‘Blew’ EP, and catchy songs ‘Turnaround’, ‘Aneurysm’ and ‘Molly’s Lips’.
This comes weeks after it was announced Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ is to be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame 2017.
Only tracks which are more than 25 years old are eligible to enter the Hall of Fame.
