Nile Rodgers performs with Angie Stone at FOLD Festival

Angie Stone jetted in from Chicago to perform with Nile Rodgers for the first ever time at FOLD Festival in London on Sunday night (26.06.16).
The 54-year-old singer joined Nile and his band Chic at the event held at Fulham Palace but at one point it didn’t look as though the soul legend would make it in time to perform with the guitarist telling fans he "may have some bad news".
However, Angie did make it to the festival and was wildly cheered as she walked out wearing sunglasses and black T-shirt emblazoned with a silver American flag.
Revealing her rush to make it in time to the event, she said: "This is the first time I’ve been on stage with Nile, I can’t believe I’m this close to him.
"I literally just jumped off the plane. I just played a gig in Chicago, and I came straight here. I know I’m not dressed for it, but I knew you came out for it so here I am. We’re gonna do something special."
Among the songs Angie and Nile played was her 2002 hit single ‘Wish I Didn’t Miss You’ which prompted a mass singalong.
Nile and his band Chic played for almost three hours and were joined at one point by special guest John Newman.
Newman sang ‘Give Me Your Love’ – the single he has recorded with Sigala and Nile – ‘Love Me Again’ and ‘Come and Get It’, however, he struggled with his vocals and relied heavily on his backing vocalists.
Nile and Chic had the whole crowd dancing with their greatest hits laden set, with highlights including ‘Everybody Dance’, I Want Your Love’, ‘Lost In Music’ and ‘Spacer’.
The 63-year-old legend also played a host of tracks he’s written for other artists such as Diana Ross’ ‘I’m Coming Out’ and ‘Upside Down’, Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ and Madonna’s ‘Like A Virgin’.
Nile also paid tribute to his late friend David Bowie dedicating ‘Let’s Dance’ – the 1982 song they recorded together – to him.
Nile said: "Earlier this year I lost a very good friend – his name was David Bowie. This song changed my life. I want to dedicate to him."
Chic closed their incredible set with disco classics ‘Le Freak’ and ‘Good Times’.
