Nigel Havers fuels Coronation Street death rumours

Nigel Havers has added further fuel to speculation his ‘Coronation Street’ character is to be killed off.
The 67-year-old star admits his alter-ego Lewis Archer’s fate on the cobbles is "looking grim", flaming the rumours that the crafty conman is going to meet his maker when Weatherfield welcomes in 2019.
Speaking about the speculated storyline, he said: "It’s not looking good – it’s looking grim."
But should Lewis meet a grisly end, Nigel wouldn’t be surprised if producers opted to resurrect his character.
When asked if show bosses could bring him back to life, he replied: "Of course they can.
"Of course, [death is] not [terminal]."
Nigel has enjoyed portraying Lewis – who first appeared on the cobbles as a gentleman escort in 2009 – and is contacted by fans of the soap more than any other show or movie he has starred in.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, the ‘Chariots of Fire’ actor added: "I love doing ‘Corrie’.
"I suppose I do [get more feedback than other shows] in a way. If I think carefully about it."
Nigel’s comments come just weeks after it was claimed Lewis will die in a ‘Corrie’ bloodbath over the new year.
A source said: "The intense plot will play out over the new year.
"Nigel always knew he wouldn’t last long on the cobbles when he signed up to return and what a way to make an exit."
This came following claims Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) and his son Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) are set to be involved in a terrifying boat blaze, which will see their lives "hang in the balance".
A source recently said: "There’s a massive fire on a boat on the canal and Simon is inside.
"Peter and Simon’s lives hang in the balance. It’s going to be a huge stunt. They’re planning massive pyrotechnics and special FX."
