Nicole Kidman and Kirsten Dunst are wanted by Sofia Coppola to star in her remake of ‘The Beguiled’.
The 44-year-old filmmaker is to recreate the 1971 film which starred Clint Eastwood and was directed by Don Siegel and she has earmarked the two actresses for roles.
The original movie cast Eastwood as injured Yankee soldier Corporal John ‘McBee’ McBurney who is imprisoned in a Confederate girls’ boarding school during the American Civil War.
Whilst imprisoned at the educational facility, he charms all the women he encounters, including a lust-filled headmistress, but the jealousy he invokes in his admirers has serious repercussions for him.
According to The Wrap, Coppola wants Kidman to portray the headmistress with Dunst as a sexually repressed teacher.
Elle Fanning is already on board to play a student at the school.
As soon as a male lead is found to play ‘McBee’ shooting will commence this year.
Kidman, 48, will next be seen in ‘Genius’, a biopic about literary editor Max Perkins.
Dunst, 33, appears alongside Adam Driver in sci-fi drama ‘Midnight Special’, and following her turn in ‘Trumbo’ 17-year-old Fanning will be seen turning her talents to horror in ‘The Neon Demon’.
