Nicole Kidman cried when she first heard ‘The Fighter’.
The 49-year-old actress served as the inspiration for husband Keith Urban’s song, which also features Carrie Underwood, and Nicole had admitted she was deeply moved when she listened to the tune for the first time.
Speaking on the red carpet at the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday (02.04.17), Nicole said: "I remember when he first played it for me, and I started to cry … he writes these things – they come out of I don’t know – and they’re like beautiful gifts."
Meanwhile, Keith revealed that he wrote ‘The Fighter’ with Carrie in mind as a potential collaborator and admitted he didn’t have a back-up plan if she declined to appear on the tune, which features on his ‘Ripcord’ album.
He told People: "I would have thought of somebody quick. I would have had to have thought of somebody quick. I think if Carrie said no, we were set with the schedule and everything, we would have just had to leave that song off the record."
Keith said leaving the song off the album would have given him time to find another collaborator, but he is thankful Carrie chose to accept his offer.
He explained: "That would have given me time to find the right person. I wouldn’t rush the wrong person in there just to make a record. Thank goodness she said yes."
Meanwhile, Nicole recently said her husband was "devastated" after she suffered physical pain and bruising during filming for ‘Little Big Lies’.
The actress was left with real bruises on her back after playing the role of Celeste, a woman who is abused by her husband (played by Alexander Skarsgard), in the HBO series.
And Nicole admitted her real-life husband Keith was less than impressed by her wounds.
She said: "I was really bruised. At one point Keith was like ‘I’m going to take a photo of your back because it’s covered in deep, massive bruises.’ He was devastated seeing it, but then he would say, ‘But I have an artist wife!’"
