Nicola Thorp has confirmed she is leaving ‘Coronation Street’.
The 29-year-old actress bowed out of Weatherfield in last night’s (13.06.18) show as her alter-ego Nicola Rubinstein moved to Bristol with Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver), and now she has signed off with a message to her fans, admitting she is feeling "really, really sad" to be departing the cobbles.
In a video posted on the ITV1 soap’s official Twitter, she said: "Hey everyone
"I just wanted to say I’ve had the most incredible year here working at Corrie.
"To be involved in Phelan’s demise has been an absolute treat, and I hope you’ve all been enjoying it as much as I have enjoyed filming it.
"I’ve got wonderful friends, a family that I’ve made here, and I’ll be really, really sad to say goodbye for now.
"Thanks for having me, and keep on watching. You’ve been the most incredible fans that anyone can ever ask for, so thank you."
After the show aired Nicola tweeted saying goodbye, leaving fans unsure whether she would be returning or not.
She said: "Thanks to the cast and crew and everyone at Coronation Street for making the cobbles feel like home this past year. I’m lucky to call you my friends.
Thanks to the audience and fans for all the love and support.
From this Nicola (and the other one) see you later, Weatherfield. (sic)"
Nicola and Eileen decided to swap the cobbles for the South West of England after the year from hell, which saw Eileen’s serial killer husband Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre) wreak havoc in their lives, including shooting his daughter Nicola.
