Nicola Roberts has assured fans Cheryl is doing fine and is "on the mend" following her split from boyfriend Liam Payne.
Following the couple publicly revealing that their romance is over after over two years together, Cheryl’s former Girls Aloud bandmate and close friend Nicola has spoken out to insist she’s doing OK.
Appearing on ‘Loose Women’ to discuss a Barnardo’s campaign to stop child exploitation Nicola, 32, was asked how Cheryl, 35, is doing and replied: "She’s on the mend she’s good".
Nicola then went on to stick up for her twice married friend Cheryl, insisting it is not her fault her relationships have not worked out.
She added: "She’s good, I actually think what’s been interested this week is the misogyny which plays out, like, ‘Why can’t she hold on to a man.’ Its like, ‘Why can’t a man keep her?’ "
Liam and Cheryl announced their split in a statement on July 1, insisting that their 16-month-old son Bear would remain their priority and focus.
Liam, 24, released a statement on Twitter which read:"Cheryl and I are sad to announce that we are going out separate ways. It’s been a tough decision for us to take. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate out as through this together."
Cheryl was previously married to former England soccer player Ashley Cole from 2006 to 2010 and then to French businessman Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini from 2016 to 2018.
