Nick Knowles to launch music career

Nick Knowles is recording an album.
The ‘DIY SOS’ presenter has decided to put down the power tools and pick up the microphone, as he revealed he’s pursuing a music career after being approached by Universal Music earlier this year.
He said: "Music’s always been a major part of my life since I was 14 and picked up a guitar. I’m the kind of person who gets home from work and picks up the guitar and strums a lot. It’s always been part of my life and a friend of mine said to me one day ‘Why don’t you do an album?’ So he connected me up to Universal, we did a couple of test tracks and they came back and said: ‘Would you like to make an album’. It’s been really exciting."
The album is expected to be released in time for Christmas, and the 55-year-old ‘Who Dares Wins’ host says the record will be full of his favourite covers, and takes influence from music legends such as Bob Dylan and Cat Stevens.
He added: "The songs that you find on the album are songs that I’ve been playing for ten, 15, 20 years. It’s influenced by guitar players like Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, people like that. And then in the modern day similar guitar players like Ed Sheeran and Newton Faulkner."
Nick has high expectations for the album too, as he’s even compared his unique "deep voice" to that of chart-topping singer George Ezra.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: "I think it really stands its ground as an album and there are some really beautiful songs. I’m not trying to be Justin Bieber. But by the same token, there aren’t very many singers in Britain that sing with a deep voice. I think there’s a market for that. Probably the only artist that’s got a deep voice that’s appeared is George Ezra in the last few years."
