Niall Horan: Men should pay on Valentine’s Day

Niall Horan thinks a man should always pay on Valentine’s Day.
The 23-year-old singer has insisted he would always foot the cost of a meal on Valentine’s – but Niall has a more open-minded approach to other aspects of dating, revealing his attitude differs depending on who he’s romancing.
Asked whether a man should buy his date’s Valentine’s Day meal, he said: "Always pay for the whole thing, always."
However, Niall revealed he is less inclined to buy his date flowers and chocolates to mark the occasion, saying some women would be more appreciative of the gesture than others.
Asked whether he’d always buy flowers and chocolates, he explained: "It depends if you have any idea on what the girl is like. Some girls like it, some girls don’t, so you kind of have to play it by ear."
And the One Direction star revealed he is similarly open-minded when it comes to public displays of affection with his dates.
The ‘This Town’ hitmaker explained: "Again, it’s a play-it-by-ear situation. You can’t really call it."
Meanwhile, Niall has also said that despite being one of the best-known pop stars in the world, he rarely gets gets recognised in the street.
He told Kent ‘Smallzy’ Small on Nova’s Smallzy Surgery: "You see online that some people can’t go down the street without being [seen by paparazzi], but I don’t really get that.
"I’m fine. I don’t wear a baseball cap because I don’t get noticed anymore. It’s the best thing ever."
This comes shortly after Niall revealed he was "surprised" how much £20 could buy when he went to Asia.
Niall went travelling when he and the other members of One Direction – Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson – decided to take a break from making music.
He recently said: "I have been on a break for a while and bring everything out later in the summer.
"I went backpacking across South East Asia last year. It was incredible. We went around Thailand, Philippines, and Indonesia, for six weeks. We did it on a budget and it was brilliant. You’d be surprised what 20 quid a night gets you over in Asia."
