Niall Horan has undergone sinus surgery.
The 25-year-old One Direction star took to Twitter on Friday (26.10.18) to tell his fans he’s undergone special surgery on his sinuses – the cavities that run through your head, including your nose and the low centre of your forehead – and will be "laying low" for a while so he can recover fully.
He wrote: "Just wanted to let you guys know that I’ve had my sinus surgery and recovery is going well . As I said I’ll be laying low for a while but thought you might want to know that part (sic)"
The ‘This Town’ hitmaker didn’t explain what he’s had done to his nasal cavities, but he has tweeted in the past about struggling from sinusitis, a common infection which causes a swelling of the sinuses.
He wrote at the time: "Sinus infection is a real pain in the face!"
Although he’s taking things slow as he recovers from surgery, Niall was already planning on taking an extended break from the limelight, following the end of his ‘Flicker World Tour’ in September.
The ‘Slow Hands’ singer decided that he’s going to take some time out, as he wants to focus on his second solo album and hang out with his friends and family.
He said: "Having the band there is great so in the soundchecks we will jam out something and see what happens.
"Nothing has really come yet. When I’m on tour I get into such a routine. And when you’re writing songs I feel like that needs to be 100 per cent your focus.
"So I’m going to take a couple of months off after the tour, which finishes in September. Then I’ll just write until I’ve got good tunes. I’m not coming back until I do.
"I find the slower songs come more naturally for me. I would like to create a bit more of the up-tempo stuff and try to cement my sound. That’s something to work on."
