Never Mind The Buzzcocks ‘returning to Sky’

‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’ is reportedly returning on Sky.

The beloved music panel show is being lined up for a pilot episode ahead of a potential comeback with ‘The Inbetweeners’ and ‘Taskmaster’ star Greg Davies at the helm.

An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "It was axed by BBC2 because they wanted to make room for new shows, which was a massive shame.

"Sky saw how good it was and have decided to bring it back with a slight makeover.

"Greg will be a great fixture as he doesn’t miss a beat, and they’ve already secured Dizzee Rascal and Paul Chowdhry to be among the first panellists."

The original version of the panel show ran for 18 years – from 1996 to 2015 – and 28 series on BBC Two.

The first 17 were hosted by Mark Lamarr, while Simon Amstell took over from the 18th season.

From the 23rd onwards, a different guest presenter hosted each week, before Rhod Gilbert was at the helm for the final run.

Throughout the show’s entire history, Phill Jupitus was a team captain, while Sean Hughes, Bill Bailey and Noel Fielding captained the other team.

Talkback Productions – who were behind the original show – are leading the upcoming revival, and it’s said there are plans to shake up the show’s format.

It’s not known which rounds will return, but fans of the original loved the likes of the popular intros round, which tasked the contestants with recreating musical intros a capella.

There was also an identity parade, which saw the teams tasked with picking out obscure pop stars from a lineup of lookalikes, and ‘next lines’, in which the host would read out lyrics for the panellists to complete.
