Neil Patrick Harris accepts Hasty Pudding award

Neil Patrick Harris donned a messy black wig and red high heels to accept his Hasty Pudding award.

The ‘How I Met Your Mother’ star was named Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Man of the Year 2014 on Friday (07.02.14), which saw him honoured with a parade, where he was driven around the streets of Cambridge, Massachusetts, in a convertible along with several members of the university’s theatre troop dressed in drag.

The 40-year-old actor, who is set to headline the drag-themed Broadway debut of ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’ in April and also accessorised his dapper tuxedo with pieces of lingerie, admitted he "felt remarkably good in heels" after accepting the prestigious accolade from America’s oldest undergraduate drama troupe.

He also wrote on Twitter today (08.02.14): "So honored to have been, um, honored by Hasty Pudding at Harvard last night. Their show was awesome… (sic)"

During a roast, the Emmy Award-winning actor was jokingly ridiculed for being best known for 200 episodes of "crappy" television and hosting the Spike TV Video Game Awards in 2010.

Dame Helen Mirren was named the Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year 2014 last week and twerked on stage while receiving her award.

Both honours are given to performers who have made lasting contributions to entertainment.

Previous winners include Jason Segel, Meryl Streep, Justin Timberlake, Christopher Walken, Julia Roberts, Jodie Foster, Elizabeth Taylor, Anne Hathaway, Bruce Willis, Claire Danes and French actress Marion Cotillard.
