Nathan Sussex would ‘love’ soaps return

Nathan Sussex would "love to return" to soap acting.
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ star portrayed evil football coach Buster Smith in the Channel 4 soap until the character was sentenced to six years in prison for sexually assaulting Ollie Morgan (Aedan Duckworth) and Brody Hudson (Adam Woodward), and Nathan would love to try his hand at another serial drama.
He said: "I’d love to return to soaps. I’ve grown up with all of them. They’re all my favourites in many different ways really.
"It’d be whoever comes calling first."
Nathan would return to ‘Hollyoaks’ "in a heartbeat", and while he has also set sights on taking on other "bad boy roles" in TV dramas, he wouldn’t mind portraying a drag queen as well.
He added to Daily Star Online: "I don’t know if there are any plans to bring Buster back.
"He’s in prison so I guess he has to be released at some point.
"But yeah, I’d go back in a heartbeat. It’s a wonderful place to work, they really look after you.
"I’d do a one-off drama. I quite like bad boy roles – I could play a killer in something.
"On the flipside I’d love to play a drag queen, I’m interested in many roles."
Nathan previously burst into tears while reading some of the scripts in the football coach grooming storyline, admitting the plot was "hard-hitting" for a 6.30pm soap.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I’ve been involved in some heavy stuff and emotional scenes with the other actors. But my character rarely gets emotional.
"But I have gone home and read some scripts and I got quite emotional reading them. Particularly the scenes where Ollie questions his sexuality. Because I felt so bad that another human being could make somebody question themselves through control and manipulation. That got to me.
"I never took anything home with me mentally, but some of the scenes were quite hard.
"For a half past six tea-time drama it’s quite hard-hitting."
