‘Coronation Street’ star Nathan Graham would love more scenes with Colson Smith and Harry Visinoni.
The ‘Corrie’ newcomer is keen for his character James Bailey to make friends with people of a similar age, such as Colson and Harry’s alter-egos Craig Tinker and Seb Franklin, as well as Lucy Fallon and Alexandra Mardell’s characters Bethany Platt and Emma Brooker.
He said: "I’d like to see James get a nice friendship circle, maybe Seb who’s around his age, Craig possibly, Emma and Bethany of course.
"I’m having a great time, everybody is so friendly. I’m taking it day by day, just trying to learn as much as I can and keep improving."
Nathan has already shot several scenes with Lucy, and James and Bethany’s friendship is to reach new heights next week when he confides in her that he is gay after she tries to kiss him.
When asked how James reacts when Bethany goes in for a kiss, he said: "He’s really taken aback, in his mind they’re just being friendly and he’s comforting her, he’s not leading her on, even though it may look that way to her.
"James has had girlfriends before but never took that next step with anyone so when she goes in for the kiss he pulls away.
"But I think he sees something in Bethany that he is really drawn to as a friend, she’s a really nice girl and he doesn’t want to hurt her so he feels it’s better to be brutally honest with her, be upfront and try have her as a friend than lose her altogether.
"She’s not happy, she accuses him of messing with her when he knows she’s damaged goods.
"The only way for him to get out of this mess is to then be honest, it’s not you it’s me and I’m gay."
James fears his football career could be in tatters if he comes out as homosexual, and is concerned about how his family may react.
He said: "It’s his fears of what it would mean to him to come out and that’s a grey area, the fear of the unknown.
"I think he’s thinking worst case scenario, his dad and his brother might turn their back on him, his career could go down the pan, he feels he could lose everything."
