Naga Munchetty wants to partner a woman on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 41-year-old newsreader – who married her husband James Haggar in 2007 – has only just been confirmed for the next series of the Ballroom and Latin but is already putting bosses through their paces by requesting to dance with a woman – Karen Clifton in particular.
Asked who she’d like to hit the dance floor with on BBC’s ‘Breakfast’ show, she said: "Karen. I know that won’t happen.
"It’s because she’s so brilliant, she’s just so determined and so on it and would take no nonsense. Because you know I can be a little bit stubborn. So sometimes I need a bit of a kick."
The brunette beauty believes Karen – who is married to fellow ‘Strictly…’ professional Kevin Clifton – is a "pocket rocket" and will be able to "whip" her into shape ready for the first batch of live shows.
And Naga may just be in luck as one of the show’s judges Craig Revel Horwood – known for his acid tongue – admitted that same-sex pairing was "on the cards" in the near future following a trial run in Hungary.
He said at the time: "It’ll be either this year or next year, but most certainly, it will happen. They did it already in Hungary.
"We should encourage that sort of thing, absolutely. There are competitions throughout the world that have same-sex couples, you just have to decide who goes backwards, darling!"
However, the BBC weren’t so keen last year and said they were sticking to the "traditional" partnerships due to it being a family show.
A spokesperson said previously: "’Strictly…’ is a family show and we have chosen the traditional format of mixed-sex couples."
