Nadiya Hussain looks set to star in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ next year.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ winner is said to be wanted by show bosses for the 2018 series because they think she will be "hugely popular" with the audience following her victory on the baking show in 2015.
A ‘Strictly’ source said: "Producers have openly said how much they would like to get Nadiya on the show.
"They think she’d be a great fit and is hugely popular with BBC audiences."
The 32-year-old baker is a big fan of the ballroom and Latin show and last weekend she saw the action first-hand when she watched the programme being filmed at the studios in Elstree, Hertfordshire, south east England.
The source added: "Nadiya is a big fan and loved getting the star treatment at the weekend. They pulled out all the stops and made her feel at home."
Since shooting to fame on ‘Bake Off’ two years ago, Nadiya has hosted a TV cookery series, ‘Nadiya’s British Food Adventure’, presented her own BBC documentary, ‘The Chronicles of Nadiya’ and even created a cake for Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday.
Should Nadiya be confirmed for ‘Strictly’ she will join last year’s ‘Bake Off’ winner Candice Brown in signing up for a similar show after she joined the ‘Dancing on Ice’ line-up for the upcoming series.
What’s more, Sophie Faldo – this year’s ‘Bake Off’ winner – has admitted she would love to compete on the programme.
She recently said: "I admit I’m a bit jealous of Candice learning to ice skate on ‘Dancing On Ice’. I’d love to do it one day.
"I’m really looking forward to seeing her on that. She’s so elegant.
"I think I have a different skill set to [her and Nadiya]. I’m interested in sport and adventure, health, and performance food so I’m hoping I can find my avenue."
