Alex Turner and Miles Kane writing film script

Alex Turner and Miles Kane are writing a film script together.
The Arctic Monkeys frontman and the 'Come Closer' singer, who also formed side-project The Last Shadow Puppets, have revealed they are working on an 'X-Men' style movie.
The pair, who "always talk", had a number one album 'The Age of Understatement' in 2008, which was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, and plan to release new music after penning the film script.
Asked when they will be working together again, Miles told Digital Spy: "It's something we always talk about y'know? But I think we're gonna write this film first anyway before we hit back into that."
Set in the 1960s, Miles described the film as having an "'X-Me' kind of vibe", and insists that he and Alex would not have major acting roles in the movie.
He said: "We're not planning to be [in the film] but we may have a little cameo."
Although the pair have never written a film before, they have worked in the industry, with Alex writing the soundtrack for Richard Ayoade's 2010 film 'Submarine', while Miles' former band The Rascals also had a small role in 2009 British film 'Awaydays'.

Ed Sheeran scores first US number one

Ed Sheeran has scored his first number one album on the US Billboard chart.
The 23-year-old singer-songwriter has sold about 210,000 copies of his second record 'x' in America, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Ed took to Twitter to thank fans for their support yesterday (02.07.14), posting: "Had my first #1 album in America this week. Thanks for everyone supporting it, that's mental x (sic)"
The album, which is the follow-up to '+' in 2011, features tracks including 'Don't', 'One' and 'Sing', produced by Pharrell Williams, while the singer also worked with acclaimed producer Rick Rubin.
Fellow British singer Sam Smith is at number two on the Billboard Chart, having shifted more than 67,000 copies of his debut record 'In The Lonely Hour'.
The last time two UK artists were at the top two spots in the chart was in 1993 when albums by Eric Clapton and Sting reached number one and two.
Meanwhile, Ed is set to write new music for One Direction, who are one of the biggest British acts to break America in a number of years.
Ed told We Love Pop magazine: "I'm seeing [their record label boss] Simon Cowell soon. I'm going to his house and playing him some songs. I like that they've moved into a more acoustic zone and I have an idea that I think would work for them, so we'll see."

Ariana Grande: Harry Styles is ‘amazing’ songwriter

Ariana Grande has praised Harry Styles as an "amazing songwriter".
The pint-sized warbler has revealed how the One Direction heartthrob just happened to be in the same recording studio as her when she was working on her second studio album 'My Everything', and offered to pen a song for her.
She explained: "I was at the studio one day and he was there, and literally, [songwriters] Johan [Carlsson] and Savan [Kotecha] were like, 'Hey, do you want to write something for Ariana?' And he was like, 'Sure, mate.' And he just did."
It seems the 21-year-old pop diva was impressed with Harry's song-writing efforts as the track, 'A Little Bit of Your Heart', will feature on Ariana's second studio effort, released on August 25.
Appearing on a one-off special of MTV's 'TRL' called 'Total Ariana Live', she gushed: "It's a beautiful song. He's an amazing writer. It's really beautiful. He's amazingly talented."
Harry, 20, has been flexing his musical muscles more and more by writing songs for other artists of late.
The 'You & I' hitmaker worked with Irish rockers Kodaline and penned a song for urban girl band Neon Jungle.
One Direction will release a new album of their own later this year.

Jack White: I miss having a regular job

Jack White misses having a regular 9 to 5 job.
The 'Lazeretto' singer, who worked in an upholstery shop before finding fame with the White Stripes, claims he misses the anticipation of being at work and wanting to rush home to write music now songwriting is his career.
Jack - who was once part of a two-piece band called The Upholsters - explained: "When I worked in an upholstery shop I couldn't wait to get home and record the idea that had been brewing all day. Now I do all these other things and they're all creative, so I've had to learn, over the years, to find new ways of writing songs."
The 38-year-old rock star also revealed he can no longer go to gigs because he gets recognised and approached by fans who all want photographs of him, meaning he can't enjoy the live music.
He told MOJO magazine: "People won't leave me alone. I can't listen to one song without people taking a photo or something, and it's a shame because most of my inspiration came from that."

Austin Mahone: A fan sent me a wedding ring

Austin Mahone was given a wedding ring from a fan.
The 'What About Love' singer admits he's had some strange and extravagant gifts from girls since he became famous, including a wedding ring which belonged to a fan's father and was sent to him in the post.
Speaking from Miami, he told BANG Showbiz: "I recall a girl sending me her dad's wedding ring, she said she took it and said, 'Please will you marry me?' and sent it to me, it was quite weird."
The 18-year-old star doesn't complain about the attention and claims it's every teenager's dream to be "chased by a million screaming girls" but he admits it can get a bit crazy at gigs.
He explained: "Recently, I was performing in Chicago and a fan jumped on stage and ran to me and mass security had to tackle her. You do worry about fans getting hurt sometimes - it was insane."
Meanwhile, Austin has released his debut album 'The Secret', which features fan favourite 'Mmm Yeah' featuring Pitbull and the singer hopes to continue performing and recording for years to come.
He said: "In five years time I see myself selling out arenas, hopefully, having at least a couple of Grammys by then and a lot more albums.
"I just want to do what I'm doing now but on a bigger scale."

Coldplay shower fans with star confetti at London show

Coldplay showered their fans in star shaped confetti as they performed the first of their "last shows for a while" at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Tuesday night (01.07.14).
The four-piece band played a mesmerising set in the centre of the iconic venue and during second to last track 'Sky Full of Stars' singer Chris Martin urged fans to "loosen up" and jump up and down as the white confetti was fired from cannons around the room.
As the band stepped out on stage at the venue - which was adorned with several light-filled trees and silver and blue stars hanging from the ceiling - they received a rapturous reception before launching into 'Always In My Head' from their new album 'Ghost Stories'.
Their set was littered with tracks from 'Ghost Stories' - which seems to catalogue Chris' separation from wife Gwyneth Paltrow - with highlights being 'Magic', 'Ink' and 'True Love'.
The band also played many of their greatest hits, including 'Charlie Brown', 'Paradise', 'Clocks', 'The Scientist' - which prompted a mass sing-along and on which Chris added a line from Adele's 'Someone Like You' - and 'When I Ruled The World'.
Chris' dad Anthony Martin was in the audience for the concert and the musician paid tribute to his father and dedicated ''Til Kingdom Come' to him.

Dolly Parton wants her own festival

Dolly Parton wants to start her own festival.
The 'Jolene' singer enjoyed her first experience at Glastonbury at the weekend and thinks there was a lot she could learn from it in order to stage her own music event at her Dollywood Theme Park in Tennessee.
She said: "I have a lotta land up near east Tennessee, and we do a lot of festivals through my Dollywood company. I've often thought I might start my own festival in Tennessee, or maybe I'll get some good pointers from this one."
And the 68-year-old star planned to ask Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis for some advice on setting up a musical extravaganza.
Speaking during a press conference at Worthy Farm, she said: "I think I'm going to do that - Michael can give me some tips. Why wouldn't I want something like this?"
Dolly was delighted to be asked to perform at the festival and said it made her feel like a rock star.
She said: "I'm so excited to be part of this whole thing. I'm just a country girl, and now I feel like a rock star."
And the '9 to 5' hitmaker deliberately chose her all-white outfit so she would complement the muddy conditions.
She explained before her performance: "I'm going to wear white on stage, because I figured from all the way out there I want to be seen, and I think it goes well with mud. But I will be wearing my stage shoes - you know I have to shine, mud or no mud."

5SOS: We want to outlast the Stones

5 Seconds of Summer want to outlast The Rolling Stones and The Who.
The Australian pop punk band - whose self-titled debut album is set to hit the top spot this week and is already number one on iTunes in 69 countries - plan to keep performing live for years to come.
Drummer Ashton Irwin, 20, told the Daily Star newspaper: "We'd love to be here for another 50 years.
"For me as a fan, one of the coolest things is growing up with bands and seeing them evolve.
"I started listening to Green Day when I was 11, and I still listen to them now. They deliver the sound-track to your lives."
The band, known as 5SOS, drew huge crowds in Milan this week and their new record includes songs such as 'Kiss Me Kiss Me' and 'End Up Here'.
Talking about their loyal fans, bassist Callum Hood, 18, said: "It's the best feeling being able to give them our music. We've been writing our album for two years and from day one the fans have been begging us to hear it."
Ashton admits people thought their album would be "watered down" because they'd signed to Capitol Records.
He said: "But we found a really supportive group of people and put out an album that we're really proud of."
The group - also made up of singer Luke Hennings and guitarist Michael Clifford - are based in the UK at the moment but haven't forgotten their friends Down Under.
Ashton added: "We feel like we're representing out country because Australia hasn't had anything big for a while."
