Sam Smith annoyed by Adele comparisons

Sam Smith gets annoyed by Adele comparisons.
The 'Stay With Me' is frequently compared to his fellow British superstar but is bored of people saying they are similar because they don't look like conventional musicians.
He confessed: "It just annoys me that people can't digest two pop stars singing really personal songs who don't look like normal pop stars."
The admission comes days after legendary US radio host slammed the singer's appearance and had gained prominence despite his "ugly" appearance, which he compared to the 'Rolling in the Deep' hitmaker.
He said: "He's an ugly motherf**ker. He's fat, and I love it.
"I'd like to get him in here and congratulate him on beating the odds. He's like the male Adele.
Taking to Twitter after the comments were made on Saturday (24.01.15), the 22-year-old musician wrote, "I can't believe what I've just read," following up the message by writing, "Ignore."
Despite the criticism, Sam - who released his debut album, 'In the Lonely Hour,' in 2014 - has managed to stay grounded by not suppressing his feelings.
He told Rolling Stone magazine: "The way I stay normal is carry on saying what I'm saying.
"When I'm sad, I'm sad. And when I'm having a down day, I'm having a down day. It's important not to pretend everything's OK, because sometimes things aren't OK, and that's all right... I'm a human being, that's how it should be. The way I stay normal is letting my feelings take over -- letting my feelings lead, not my mind."

2 Chainz running for mayor

2 Chainz wants to run for mayor.
The rapper - who has collaborated with artists including Jessie J and Kanye West - revealed he is hoping to embark on a political career because he feels so strongly about the legalisation or marijuana and was riled up by a recent debate on the issue with television personality Nancy Grace.
He told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper: "I am looking forward to running at the end of this year or next year."
The 37-year-old musician suggested he was considering the role earlier this week when he confessed his fans had been urging for him to run for the position in his hometown of College Park in Georgia in the next mayoral election on November 3.
Although the 'Birthday Song' hitmaker - whose real name is Tauheed Epps - acknowledged he isn't a politician, he said he is hoping to gain the relevant training in order to successfully undertake the role for the good of his community.
He told XXL magazine: "I'm a musician, not a politician.
"I'm supposed to be running for mayor in College Park. I got everybody wishing. I'm really gonna do this little mayor thing in College Park. I'm just trying to make sure I have the right qualifications."
Despite his determination, 2 Chainz will face tough competition for the position as he would be challenging Jack Longino, who has been the area's mayor since 1996.

Tom Jones, Jessie J and more to duet at Grammys

Tom Jones and Jessie J will duet at the Grammys.
The British performers will sing together at the annual music ceremony, with on-stage collaborations also being delivered by Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani, and Hozier and Annie Lennox.
Announcing the news on Twitter, 74-year-old Tom wrote: "Pleased to announce @JessieJ and I shall be performing together @theGRAMMYs. A lot of great acts performing as well."
'Take Me to Church' singer Hozier also expressed his excitement about his collaboration with the Eurythmics star by posting his own message on the micro-blogging website.
He wrote: "Incredibly excited to announce that I'll be performing beside the legendary @AnnieLennox at the upcoming @TheGRAMMYs"
Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Tony Bennett and five-time Grammy winner Lady Gaga - who released the collaborative album 'Cheek to Cheek' last year - will also duet at the ceremony at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.
The latest wave of act announcements follows previous news of performers at the glitzy ceremony on February 8, including 'Stay with Me' crooner Sam Smith, pint-sized pop star Ariana Grande, super-producer Pharrell and musical icon Madonna.
Other artists set to take to the stage include Usher, Miranda Lambert, John Legend, Common, AC/DC, Eric Church and Ed Sheeran.

Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler arrested

Geezer Butler has been arrested.
The Black Sabbath bassist spent the night in a jail cell on Tuesday (27.01.15) after allegedly being involved in a booze-fuelled bar brawl at the Corkscrew Saloon in Death Valley, California, where he was charged with misdemeanour assault, public intoxication and vandalism.
According to an official statement from Inyo County Sheriff's Department which booked the lyricist, officers were called to the bar following a fight in which the 65-year-old musician - who was charged under his full name, Terence Michael Butler - was involved, which led to one person being assaulted and a window being smashed.
The statement read: "Shortly after midnight on Jan. 27, sheriff's dispatch received a call regarding a verbal and physical altercation.
"After the Inyo county sheriff's deputy arrived on scene and interviewed witnesses, it was determined that there had been an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation -- resulting in an individual being struck, and a broken window."
The rocker - who has been in the band with Ozzy Osbourne and Tommy Iommi since 1968 - was released from the facility on Wednesday morning (28.01.15) after he "dried out".
The two-time Grammy winning band have not performed together since July 2014 when they concluded their two-year tour in London's Hyde Park, while Geezer - who lives in California with his wife, Gloria Butler, and their several cats - has no upcoming scheduled tour dates.

Charli XCX excited for Super Bowl

Charli XCX is looking forward to watching the Super Bowl.
The 'Boom Clap' hitmaker is planning on flying out to the major sporting event on Sunday (01.02.15), but admitted she is more excited about seeing her pal Katy Perry's half-time performance than watching the match because she doesn't understand American football.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, she said: "Yeah I think I'm going to stay and watch it. I have no idea about American football or anything, I only know about our football y'know? It seems to be totally different. I don't know if I'll really know what's going on, but I'm looking forward to seeing Katy."
The 22-year-old star was in London on Wednesday (28.01.15) to headline the first of two MTV Brand New shows - presented by Emporio Armani Diamonds - which aim to highlight new acts set to gain chart success in 2015, including James Bay, Sinead Harnett and Years & Years.
Despite being eager to see Katy perform at University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona, she revealed those hoping she will be making an appearance during the medley of hits will be left disappointed.
When asked if she is going to be a surprise guest during the 30-year-old singer's set, she admitted: "No, I'm not. If she asked me I'd probably be like, 'Yeah, sure!' but she hasn't invited me unfortunately."
Charli - who will release her album 'Sucker' in the UK next month - added she admires the "cool and really great" 'Dark Horse' singer, who she will join on a European tour starting in February.
She gushed: "We've hung out a few times and she is really cool and really great. We kind of first hung out at the VMAs where she was wearing that amazing denim outfit, which I was like, 'Yes!'."
Voting for the MTV Brand New winner closes at midnight tonight (29.01.15).

Kasabian to perform at the Bafta Awards

Kasabian are to open the Bafta Awards at the Royal Opera House next Sunday (08.02.15).
The British rock band - who comprise of Tom Meighan, Sergio Pizzorno, Chris Edwards and Ian Matthews - were recently overlooked for Brit Award nominations, but are looking forward to appearing at the ceremony.
Sergio - the band's lead guitarist and chief songwriter - explained: "It's way more exciting playing the Baftas than the Brits.
"Awards should be chaotic and exciting. We're going to start the night off with a huge explosion.
"We're going to play everything twice as loud.
"Half the people there won't have a clue what is going on. We plan on going to the Bafta after-party and we're going to totally destroy it."
Sergio also spoke out about their recent Brits snub, which shocked many people in the music industry after they headlined Glastonbury in 2014.
He told The Sun newspaper: "It's a conspiracy. They're trying to shut rock 'n' roll out of it. What sort of message does that send to working class rock 'n' roll bands, which the industry is in dire need of?
"Kasabian couldn't have done any more last year. It's bulls*** really."
Kasabian are expected to perform their single 'Stevie' while a montage of the year's best film moments appear behind them.

Rita Ora to perform at Oscars

Rita Ora will perform at the Oscars.
The 24-year-old singer is very "excited" to have been asked to sing 'Grateful' from 'Beyond the Lights' - one of the five nominees for Best Original Song - at the prestigious Academy Awards ceremony on February 22.
She tweeted: "I'm excited to announce @TheAcademy invited me to perform on the #Oscars on Feb 22nd! (sic)"
Show producers say the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' star's appearance will add "glamour" to proceedings.
The producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, said in a statement:
"International recording artist, Rita Ora, will make her Oscar stage debut this year. The mixture of her incredible voice and glamour makes a perfect combination for our show."
Rita joins previously-announced performers John Legend and Common, who will take to the stage to sing their Golden Globe-winning track 'Glory' from 'Selma', and Adam Levine, who will perform his 'Begin Again' single 'Lost Stars'.
Both tracks are also Oscar nominated, though 'Lost Stars' prize will go to songwriters Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois if it wins.
'Everything is Awesome' from 'The Lego Movie', performed by Tegan and Sara with The Lonely Island and 'I'm Not Gonna Miss You' as featured in documentary 'Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me' are the category's other nominees.
Neil Patrick Harris will host the ceremony at Los Angeles' Dolby Theatre.

Madonna praises Taylor Swift

Madonna is a big fan of Taylor Swift.
The 'Hung Up' hitmaker admires the 'Shake It Off' singer's "pretty dresses" and "catchy pop songs", which she admitted often get stuck in her head.
She told Australia's 'Today' show: "It's good to have princesses [of pop]. It means there's lots of pretty dresses around.
"I like Taylor Swift. I think she writes some really catchy pop songs. I can't get them out of my head."
And Taylor, 25, was thrilled by the pop superstar's compliment.
She wrote on her Tumblr page: "Thanks now I'm dead."
The 56-year-old singer recently had her forthcoming album 'Rebel Heart' leaked online and says the move was the "ultimate violation".
She added: "To have your work taken before you're finished and put out into the world for people to hear and judge and experience... I can't begin to tell you how betrayed I felt."
Earlier this month, a 39-year-old Israeli has now been arrested in Tel Aviv by the Lahav 433 crime-fighting agency for "breaking into" her computer and the 'Vogue' hitmaker subsequently expressed her relief at the news.
She wrote on Facebook: "I am profoundly grateful to the FBI, the Israeli Police investigators and anyone else who helped lead to the arrest of this hacker. I deeply appreciate my fans who have provided us with pertinent information and continue to do so regarding leaks of my music. Like any citizen, I have the right to privacy.
"This invasion into my life -- creatively, professionally, and personally remains a deeply devastating and hurtful experience, as it must be for all artists who are victims of this type of crime."

Tom DeLonge insists he has tried with Blink-182

Tom DeLonge insists he has "tried to make things work" with his Blink-182 bandmates.
The 'All the Small Things' singer denied this week he had quit the band after Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus issued a statement saying he had left indefinitely, and after the pair against stressed he was no longer a part of the trio, Tom has spoken out to insist he has done as much as possible to ease the tension between them.
He wrote on Facebook: "I've tried to make things work. I've tried to help move this band down 50 different paths using my people, or other people, and people we don't even know. I tried to put forth ideas about how we can grow and challenge ourselves to become a better band. I'm not sitting around waiting for someone else to do the work. I'm not wired that way."
Mark and Travis had claimed Tom had refused to join them in the recording studio to work on a new album but the singer says he was put in a difficult situation because of Blink-182's record contract difficulty and commitments to some of his other projects.
He said: "Over the past two and a half years, while a recording partner was being sought for a new Blink record, I launched a media company. I just put out a new Angels & Airwaves record and as some of you know, there's a lot more coming.
"All of these other projects are being worked, exist in contract form - I can't just slam the brakes and drop years of development, partnerships and commitments at the snap of a finger."
