The Who dedicate song to Paul Weller at BST concert

The Who dedicated a song to Paul Weller as they headlined Barclaycard presents British Summertime in Hyde Park on Friday night (26.06.15).
During the band's incredible greatest hits set, guitarist Pete Townsend took a moment to pay tribute to Weller - who performed before the group took to the stage - and revealed the rocker had personally requested they play 'Pictures of Lily' for him in an email because it's his favourite Who song.
Townsend said: "We were the mods, you were the mods, Paul Weller brought back interest in the mods and we're honoured to be playing with him. He requested this by email. We haven't played it for a few shows, so it'll probably be crap."
Earlier, frontman Roger Daltrey mistakenly thought they were dedicating 'The Kids Are Alright' to Weller, saying: "This song is for a special friend. We don't usually do requests, but for this man, Mr. Paul Weller, anything. It was him who asked us to play it."
But Townshend interrupted his bandmate to say: "I thought we were playing something else?'
To which a grinning Daltrey, 71, replied: "I f***ed that up! I write these setlists the night before a show and always forget them. That time of my life when I forget everything is sitting on the doorstep."
The band opened their show with 'I Can't Explain' and before launching into next track 'The Seeker' Townsend told the 65,000 fans in attendance: "You are a long way away but we will f***ing reach you!"
Other highlights included 'Who Are You', 'I Can See For Miles', 'Pinball Wizard', 'Baba O'Riley' and 'My Generation', which prompted one excited fan in the crowd to light up a flare which was hastily taken off him by security.
Throughout the gig images of deceased band members drummer Keith Moon and bassist John Entwistle were shown on giant screens and before playing final song 'Won't Get Fooled Again' Townsend took a moment to remember his friends and praise their replacements, Pino Palladino on bass and Zak Starkey - who is Ringo Starr's son and former Oasis band member - on drums.
The 70-year-old musician said: "Replacing John Entwistle was a hard job, as he had such a unique style. But this guy (Pino) is probably the best bass player in the world today."
"You'll have seen pictures of Keith Moon on the big screen behind us tonight. When I see them behind me, I miss him terribly. But before Keith went, he gave this guy a drumkit, so in a way Zak studied at the feet of the w***er."
After the band finished the playing the song, Townshend touched upon The Who's 50th anniversary, telling fans: "We didn't think we'd last until the end of the week when we started. There was always a punch-up, we thought we'd split up every day. But then we lasted a year, and here we are. We wouldn't have made it without all of you. You've made it, without you it would not have happened."
The group then departed the stage to huge cheers and the signature chant of "we are the mods", prompting Townshend to say: "You're not mods, you're all too old to be mods. We are the sods."
Earlier at the festival Weller treated the crowd to a run through of some his best loved songs, including 'Broken Stones' and 'You Do Something To Me', a handful of tracks from his latest album 'Saturns Pattern' and The Jam tunes 'Start!', 'A Town Called Malice' and 'That's Entertainment', on which he was joined by Miles Kane.
The Kaiser Chiefs performed before Weller and they were proceeded by Johnny Marr, whose set included The Smiths songs 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out' and 'How Soon Is Now?' and a cover of The Clash hit 'I Fought the Law'.
Former Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes opened the event.
A host of celebrities were at the festival, including Lionel Richie, ex-'Top Gear' presenter Jeremy Clarkson, Stereophonics singer Kelly Jones, retired England soccer player Ian Wright, TV host Fearne Cotton, actress Leslie Ash and her husband Lee Sharpe and comedian Rich Hall.
The Who now move on to Glastonbury and will close the festival on Sunday night (28.06.15).

The Libertines performed secret Glasto gig

The Libertines performed a secret set at Glastonbury last night (26.06.15).
The London-based band took to The Pyramid Stage - which had simply read 'To Be Announced' to fill the gap left vacant when Florence + The Machine was pushed up to the headline slot to replace the injured Dave Grohl's Foo Fighters.
The gig had been kept a secret until 8.23pm, when a banner, featuring the cover of the band's 2002 debut album 'Up The Bracket' was hoisted above the video screen at the rear of the stage, and the band, led by Pete Doherty, arrived to a huge roar from the crowd, which included Metallica's Lars Ulrich and Florence Welch.
The group - completed by guitarist/singer Carl Barat, bassist John Hassall and drummer Gary Powell - began with 'Delaney' and 'Vertigo', after which Pete took a deep swig from a bottle of beer, and paid tribute to his late friend Alan Wass, who died of a heart attack in April, before playing 'Time For Heroes'.
The 36-year-old musician said: "Evening Glastonbury, hello. Mr Alan Wass if you're up there looking down, I'm down here looking up."
The set included The Libertines' hits, like 'What Katy Did' and 'Can't Stand Me Now' and the crowd went wild when Pete played the harmonica, according to the NME website.
The set ended with 'Don't Look Back Into The Sun', after which the band took their bows at the front of the stage, and left the Worthy Farm site by helicopter.

One Direction and McBusted’s golf games

One Direction and McBusted play golf together.
The 'Night Changes' hitmakers have been supported by the supergroup on their 'On The Road Again' world tour and when they have time off, the singers have less-than-rock and roll ways of relaxing.
McBusted singer Danny Jones said: "We hang out with Niall Horan a lot. He often comes to chill with us after shows. We've written a few songs with him."
Bassist Dougie Poynter added: "We play golf with them too."
And when they are not playing golf or performing, McBusted are very "chilled out" and no longer party the way they used to.
Matt Willis said: "We're actually quite chilled out these days, we rarely get up to anything very raucous.
"We went to a casino recently but it wasn't very rock 'n' roll as we all left early to go to bed.
"It couldn't be any more different [now]/ Before, it was all about the fun that could be had off stage, now our main priority is doing the show to the best of our ability, then chilling out.
"After a show, we usually go for a couple of beers at a hotel bar then head back to the tour bus and watch 'Men Behaving Badly'."
The 'Air Guitar' group admire 1D and don't think they could have coped with the younger band's level of fame.
Singer Tom Fletcher said: "Their popularity is on a whole other level."
Danny added to Britain's OK! magazine: "When I was their age there was no way I could have dealt with being as big as they are."

Bastille played ‘amazing’ secret gig at Glastonbury

Bastille played a secret set at Glastonbury.
The band announced the gig via Twitter and Instagram just an hour before they came onstage in the William Green tent.
They posted: "So happy to be back at Glastonbury! We play 13.30 at William's Green if anybody's about and fancies popping down."
Bastille - fronted by Dan Smith - started with 'Things We Lost In The Fire', and then thanked the crowd for coming to watch them perform at such short notice.
Dan announced: "Thank you so much for coming, it's amazing to be here. We've only got 40 minutes so we're going to play as much as we can for you."
Bastille played some tracks from their upcoming album including 'Snakes', as well as from their debut album 'Bad Blood', and the 28-year-old frontman joined fans in the crowd too, and apologised to the festival-goers once he got back onstage.
He said: "Sorry if I stood on your feet!"
Bastille ended their set with their two biggest hits, 'Of The Night' and 'Pompeii'
Before playing their number two singles, Dan addressed the crowd and said: "In a minute I'm going to ask you to get down so If you want to get down with me, but not in a sexy way, please do so I don't look like a dick!"
Those on site at Glastobury who spot the festival-themed Charging Bull will be able to plug in their EE Power Bar - a portable mobile phone charger - for a quick power top-up on the go.

Professor Stephen Hawking pulls out of Glastonbury?

Professor Stephen Hawking has reportedly pulled out of Glastonbury Festival for "personal reasons".

BBC news reporter Lizo Mzimba has also tweeted saying it's "unlikely" Stephen will make an appearance.
His tweet read: "Sadly now looking unlikely that Stephen Hawking will be appearing at @GlastoFest this weekend. #Glastonbury (sic)."
A message on the festival's website revealed he would make "a special guest appearance" in the field which is aimed at children aged 12 and under.
It remains not known if Stephen will reschedule his Glastonbury speech for another day of the festival, which goes on until Monday (29.06.15).

The set happened this morning when they took to the stage at around 11:00am with frontman Tim Burgess taking to the stage as he shouted "surprise surprise".
The Britpop band thrilled the thousands of fans who had gather to watch them with a selection of their biggest hits, including 'Just When You're Thinkin' Things Over', 'North Country Boy' and 'How High'.

Azealia Banks cancels Glastonbury set

Azealia Banks has pulled out of performing at Glastonbury.
The 24-year-old New York rapper was due to appear on The Other stage at 9pm tomorrow night (27.06.15) but news of her late cancellation broke on Twitter today (26.06.15), however a reason has yet to been given and the star has also refrained from releasing a statement.
Glastonbury's official Twitter account posted: "Azealia Banks has had to pull out of her Saturday Other Stage performance. She will be replaced by The Strypes."
And the 'Ice Princess' singer has been quiet on social media in the past few days, but is reportedly busy preparing for her first ever acting role in the upcoming film 'Coco'.
Glasto organisers picked young rockers The Strypes - a four-piece band hailing from Ireland - to replace the singer's slot.

Pete Townshend ready to leave The Who behind

Pete Townshend believes The Who will come to an end as a band this year.
The 'My Generation' hitmaker thinks it is time he and singer Roger Daltrey go their "separate ways" once their current tour - 'The Who Hits 50!' which was staged to celebrate their 50th anniversary -comes to an end.
He said: "I think I will stop after this year. When this tour is over, we'll probably both go our separate ways. So it's to demonstrate that even this particular gang can grow old - not necessarily gracefully, but can grow old ungracefully, or whatever it is that we're doing."
However, the 70-year-old musician doesn't think it will mean the end of his collaborative relationship with frontman Roger Daltrey.
He added in an interview with MOJO magazine: "I think Roger and I will do odd things together.
"I hope that one day I can write him an album of songs that suit him and the record company won't demand that we call it The f***ing Who, but I've got a bad feeling about it. I think that if I wrote Roger a bunch of good songs, our manager would say, 'Why not call it The Who? We'll sell double as many records!' "
And the 'Baba O'Reilly' hitmaker insists he and his 71-year-old bandmate still enjoy a great relationship, despite constant speculation they often argue.
He said: "Roger and I were both so upset when the English newspapers decided that we were feuding - big headlines: 'Roger And Townshend Feuding.' Because it's just not the case.
"The acceptance of each other's eccentricities and differences has brought us to a really genuine and compassionate relationship, which can only be described as love. And that's something to demonstrate, because this is two old guys in rocking chairs. As Roger says, we're lucky that we're not in some old people's home and that we can do this now."
The Who top the bill at Barclaycard presents British Summertime Hyde Park in London tonight (26.06.15) and they will close the Glastonbury Festival as headliners on Sunday evening (28.06.15).

Florence Welch wants to meet Dalai Lama at Glastonbury

Florence Welch would "love" to meet the Dalai Lama at Glastonbury.
The 28-year-old singer - who will headline the world famous festival tonight (26.06.15) with her band Florence + the Machine - is eager to meet the Tibetan Buddhist leader who is making a rare appearance at the event to give a talk to festival goers.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "A lot of the artists are excited to hear what the Dalai Lama has to say. Florence is very spiritual, caring and open-minded. She would love to meet him on site."
The Dalai Lama's spokesman has revealed the key themes of his visit to the event at Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England, will be "the promotion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's message of compassion, non-violence and the oneness of humanity".
Although the 'Ship to Wreck' hitmaker isn't a Buddhist, she considers herself to be a holistic and spiritual human being and has explored many different religions and faiths, including paganism and even witchcraft.
Revealing that she even cast spells while she was a school girl, Florence said: "Me and my two friends made these spell books.
"I tried to make one classmate fall in love with me, so me and my coven put his name in a bottle. The rule was that there has to be a drop of blood and ... well, I don't know if it ever worked."
The Dalai Lama will be giving his talk in the festival's famous Green Fields area and festival co-organiser Emily Eavis has described his visit to her and her father Michael Eavis' farm "a special moment".
Glastonbury will also have a visit from Professor Stephen Hawking this year. The physicist is due to appear in the Kidz Field.
