MTV pulls Ex on the Beach series after Mike Thalassitis’ death

MTV has pulled the 10th season of ‘Ex on the Beach’ following Mike Thalassitis’ death.
The reality star – whose body was found in woodland near his Essex home on Friday (15.03.19) – had filmed scenes for the dating show back in September, but in the wake of his tragic death the channel has decided to pull the entire season, and insisted their thoughts were with his family and friends.
An MTV spokesperson said in a statement: "We were very sad to hear the tragic news about Mike Thalassitis and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
"Last year, Mike took part in filming for the next series of ‘Ex on the Beach’, which was due to air on MTV later in the year.
"In light of the news of Mike’s death, we have decided not to broadcast the planned 10th season of the show."
Mike, who passed away at the age of 26, dated fellow reality star Megan McKenna for seven months following his stint on ‘Love Island’ and went on to star in ‘Celebs Go Dating’ last year.
Megan, 26, broke her social media silence since his passing on Tuesday (19.03.19), admitting she is still "trying to come to terms" with his death.
She wrote on Instagram: "Sorry I haven’t been on social media but I’m in complete shock and trying to come to terms with this.
"I can’t believe I’m even writing this post.
"My thoughts and prayers are with Mike’s family. Rest in peace Mike. X (sic)"
Megan’s comments come after several former ‘Love Island’ stars took to social media to pay tribute to Mike, including Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies, who won the 2017 series which Mike competed in.
Alongside a broken heart emoji, Kem wrote: "Such heartbreaking news. My thoughts go out to all of Mikes friends and family (sic)"
In her own post, Amber added: "I am in utter shock. @MikeThalassitis you were one of the most genuine guy! I just can’t believe this! You’ll be missed so much you have no idea (sic)"
