Moya Brady wishes she could swear on ‘Hollyoaks Later’.
The 57-year-old actress will take centre stage on the late night soap spin-off – which last aired in 2013 – and while the post-watershed episode will push boundaries, bad language wouldn’t have fit Breda McQueen’s personality.
She told Digital Spy: "I think the episode is going to satisfy the audience’s appetite. It’s pretty violent.
"I would have liked to have sworn, but Breda doesn’t! So in some ways we’ve pushed it far, but in other ways we’ve tamed it back. It’s nice, because they haven’t done ‘Hollyoaks Later’ for about five years.
"The episodes are all the same to me and I take them all as seriously as each other – I don’t see this as any different, because it’s another day’s work."
Moya – who joined the cast as the serial killer in 2018 – compared tonight’s (06.01.20) episode to a "Greek tragedy" as her alter ego will set fire to her pig farm after taking Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) captive.
She added: "It is a very intense episode. If you’ve ever read any Greek tragedy, then you’re on the right track if you think of that – that’s the vibe.
"Everybody’s a bit unhinged in the episode, the whole flavour is unhinged! But Breda probably takes the biscuit!"
Meanwhile, the soap star admitted her character is "cornered" and "unravelling" as she sparks the blaze, while believing she’s being influenced by God.
She said: "Breda sets fire to the farm and she’s not worried about who she’ll hurt. She thinks she’s listening to God at that point. She’s cornered and she’s unravelling."
‘Hollyoaks Later’ will air tonight (06.01.20) on E4, and tomorrow on Channel 4.
