Moya Brady was "absolutely thrilled" to find out her ‘Hollyoaks’ character was going to be a serial killer.
The 56-year-old actress plays evil Breda McQueen on the Channel 4 soap, and she couldn’t wait to get her teeth into such "complex acting territory" when show bosses revealed her alter-ego would start bumping people off.
She said: "I was absolutely thrilled! This storyline is such a fantastic opportunity to explore such complex territory in acting."
Despite taking on the role of a killer, Moya insists she is "not as respectable" as her alter-ego, and admits the pair have many resemblances apart from all the deaths Breda is responsible for.
When asked how she is different from her character, she replied: "Not that different … other than the murdering! I’m untidier and not as respectable."
Last month, Breda bumped off Russ Owen (Stuart Manning) and flashback scenes revealed she was also responsible for the deaths of Carl Costello (Paul Opacic) and Glenn Donovan (Bob Cryer), making her a serial killer.
While Moya believes Breda has a "twinge" of regret about her crimes, she doesn’t look likely to stop murdering anytime soon.
She added: "Perhaps a twinge here and there, but she is clear about her mission to rid Hollyoaks of bad dads, ensuring a village full of happy, fulfilled children, raised by strong independent mummies.
"She has a vision, and she is committed to that vision.
"Breda is a very humble woman, and God is making all of those decisions. She believes she is just following orders."
