Harvey Weinstein rules out violent films

Harvey Weinstein will not be making any more violent films.
The legendary producer thinks it's time he said "enough" to slaughter films following his extensive catalogue of bloody movies such as 'Pulp Fiction', 'Reservoir Dogs' and 'Kill Bill', and is "happy" with his new animation 'Escape From Planet Earth' because it's family friendly.
He told The Daily Mirror newspaper: "I made the movie for my kids, and I wanted to make something my mum could watch too.
"I've done my fair share of exploitation movies and slasher movie, and I'm not going to do that any more. They serve no purpose except to make money."
Last month Weinstein - who is an ardent anti-gun lobbyist - unveiled plans for a new film 'The Senator's Wife' which will take on the National Rifle Association in America.
The 61-year-old star understands why fellow Hollywood directors use violence in their work but he has ruled bloody films in future to avoid hypocrisy claims.
Harvey explained: "Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese are artists though. They have a theory that the more you show the violence and guns the more of a deterrent it becomes.
"But for me personally, I am holding my hand up and saying 'enough.' I'm not going to make movies where we slaughter a whole bunch of teenagers but I am not saying anybody else can't do it."
"I don't want nay legislation. I just don't want to make those kinds of movies any more. Plus making Escape made me a rock star at home, so I'm happy."

Ryan Gosling recalls difficulty of breaking Hollywood

Ryan Gosling insists the "dream" of cracking the film industry is either a "premonition or a delusion".
The 33-year-old star - who was catapulted to the spotlight in romantic drama 'The Notebook' - was born and raised in Ontario, Canada and left everything familiar behind in pursuit of becoming a Hollywood legend.
Talking on forthcoming documentary 'Seduced and Abandoned', he explained: "Everyone's left their family, their homes, their friends [and] their jobs, to pursue a dream, where they know that the percentage of them achieving that dream is never and they do it anyway. Everyone has shared the same dream and no one knows whether it's a premonition or a delusion."
The hunk admits luck plays a part in securing an audition and insists nerves and fear of the competition can often get in the way.
Gosling said: "You're lucky to get an audition. Then you get it, you get there [at the audition], you walk into a room full of guys that look just like you. You realise that you're not the only one that wore a cowboy hat. Then you can hear the other guy in the other room auditioning. Now you're thinking about not doing it like him as oppose to doing it the way you wanted to do it."
Gosling will hit the big screen later this year in 'How to Catch a Monster', alongside Christina Hendricks and Eva Mendes.

Tom Hardy to play both Kray twins in biopic

Tom Hardy will play both Kray twins in the forthcoming big screen biopic 'Legend'.
The 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy' actor is in talks to play famed criminals Reggie and Ronnie Kray - who were known as perpetrators of organised crime in the East End of London during the 1950s and 1960s - and he admits he hadn't ever "dreamt" of playing two character in the same film.
The 36-year-old star told the MailOnline: "All the plans are on the table. There's a lot of crossing the t's and dotting the i's, and there's a lot of shift and geography to work out.
"It would be difficult. It's quite technical and I'm a bit of an anorak.
"There's a physical transfer; we'd have to shoot one bit, go away come back and shoot it all again with another part. I've never dreamt of playing two people on the screen!"
The script was penned by Brian Helgeland, and although it largely focuses on the Kray brothers other stars including Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland, who were often spotted at Reggie's Knightsbridge nightclub Esmeralda's Barn, are mentioned.
The film is expected to begin production in the UK later this year.

Kevin Bacon cast in 6 Miranda Drive

Kevin Bacon will star in '6 Miranda Drive'.
The 55-year-old actor is in talks to feature alongside Radha Mitchell in 'Rogue' director Greg McLean's forthcoming film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jason Blum's Blumhouse banner and Matt Kaplan from Chapter One Films are producing, while Robyn Marshall from Chapter One will co-produce.
The film was also written by McLean and revolves around a family who bring home a supernatural force when they return from a trip to the Grand Canyon.
Bacon - who was catapulted to the spotlight following 1980's hit film 'Friday the 13th' - recently revealed he thinks fame is "bizarre", but after being in the spotlight for over 30 years he has adjusted and grown accustomed to living in the public eye.
He said: "Fame is very, very bizarre. If you just got it all of a sudden, out of nowhere, you would be like: 'This is very weird.'
"Then you kind of get used to it and think: 'This is what my life is."
The hunk hit the big screen last year in 'Skum Rocks!' where he starred as himself and 'R.I.P.D.' as Boston Police detective, Bobby Hayes.

Director James Wan helmed the first movie and while a filmmaker for the second is yet to be confirmed, Carey Hayes and Chad Hayes who penned 'The Conjuring' will work on the follow-up.
New Line Chief Executive, Toby Emmerich, previously revealed 'The Conjuring 2' will avoid "blood, gore and death" often associated with horror flicks.

"It's a horror film that emphasizes atmosphere and suspense in the tradition of classics like 'Psycho' or 'The Others.'"

New Line are currently working on 'Annabelle', which is a spin-off based on the possessed doll which was introduced in 'The Conjuring'.

Marc Webb confirmed for Amazing Spider-Man 3

Marc Webb has been confirmed to direct 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3'.
The filmmaker will return to helm Andrew Garfield in the third instalment of the superhero franchise, "securing his spot in helming all three films in the trilogy" according to a new report about Sony Pictures by Variety.
The movie is due for release in May 2016 in the UK and June 2016 in the US.
The studio also confirmed that a new 'Spider-Man' film would be released every year in future, thanks to plans to make spin-off movies centred around villains The Sinister Six and Venom.
Amy Pascal, Sony's co-chairman, said: "We are expanding the 'Spider-Man' universe into The Sinister Six and Venom, so that we have 'Spider-Man' movies every year."
Alex Kurtzman is set to direct 'Venom' and is currently writing a script with his longtime collaborator Roberto Orci and Ed Solomon, while Drew Goddard will write 'The Sinister Six' and potentially direct the feature. Neither film has yet been given a release date.
Orci recently said: "I think [the audience is] ready to have things shaken up. I think we've all seen everything. You've seen everything ...They can see it all coming. So we have to shake it up. You can't just keep telling the same stories every day."

Scott Cooper impressed with Johnny Depp

Director Scott Cooper is impressed with Johnny Depp's work ethic.
The American filmmaker is working with the 50-year-old actor on the Whitey Bulger biopic 'Black Mass', and was thrilled that Depp has a "strong point of view" and is keen to get to set to begin filming.
Talking to collider.com, he said: "I only want to work with actors to have a strong point of view and who want to race to set.
"And Johnny is that type of actor. He is a consummate actor. He's always pushing himself and always playing something different. He's one of the best actors in American screen history."
Cooper hopes the film will portray Depp in a way which he's not been seen before.
He added: "Our hope is to really craft a full-bodied portrait in ways that you haven't seen. It's exciting to see an actor like Johnny really attracted to a part like this because you've never seen him like this."
'Black Mass' is based on the notorious Boston gangster who was arrested in 2011 in Santa Monica, California and is currently incarcerated at the United States Penitentiary in Tucson, Arizona.
He was sentenced to two consecutive life terms plus five years after he was found to have been involved in 11 murders among other crimes.
