Motorhead Lemmy’s life-size statue unveiled at LA bar

A life-size statue of Motorhead’s Lemmy has been erected outside his favourite bar in Los Angeles.
The ‘Ace of Spades’ hitmaker – who died in December at the age of 70, following a battle with an "aggressive cancer" – was a regular at The Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood and in his memory they unveiled the bronze figure in front of a packed out crowd.
Among those in attendance was his girlfriend Cheryl Keuleman and manager Todd Singerman.
Todd paid tribute to his late pal and said he was on par with The Beatles and was a one off.
He said: "I look at him no differently than Johnny Cash, The Beatles and so on.
"He was real. He didn’t bull***. The way he went on stage was the way he was at home. Go find that today."
The bronze artwork was designed by local artist Travis Moore and was funded by fans through a crowdfunding campaign, which has raised $20,000 [£15,000]
Taking to Facebook, artist Travis said: "I’m so happy to be creating the Lemmy statue. This will be an amazing tribute to him and all the Motörhead family out there around the world, who are helping raise the cash."
Since his death there have been several tributes including Download Festival naming their stage, The Lemmy Stage. And The Hollywood Vampires, led by Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp, remembered their late friend by performing a version of ‘Ace of Spades’ at the Grammys earlier this year, while the late rocker’s face was projected onto a screen behind them.
