Molly Shannon has praised Sarah Jessica Parker as "so supportive and so wonderful" after her former co-star Kim Cattrall branded her as "cruel".
The 52-year-old actress has come under fire from her former ‘Sex and the City’ co-star Kim in part of a long running spat which manifested most recently in a damning social media post accusing Sarah Jessica of "exploiting our tragedy" after she sent her condolences to Kim following the death of her brother earlier this month.
And now, Sarah Jessica’s ‘Divorce’ co-star Molly, 53, has leapt to the star’s defence, claiming she is "genuinely supportive and kind".
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, Molly said: "I didn’t read about [Kim’s social media post]. But I know for me, Sarah is just so supportive and so wonderful and we just get along so well. It doesn’t really feel like work because we have so much in common, and she loves funny women and is just so genuinely supportive and kind, and like a ‘girls’ girl.’ So, I just feel lucky that I get to work with her."
Sarah and Kim, 61, famously fell out last year after it was claimed Kim’s "diva demands" were the cause of the third ‘Sex and the City’ movie’s cancellation, but Sarah had put their differences aside to reach out and offer her condolences after Kim’s brother Christopher was found dead.
Commenting on the Instagram post in which Kim confirmed the tragic news, Sarah wrote: "Dearest Kim, my love and condolences to you and yours and Godspeed to your beloved brother. Xx (sic)"
But just days later, Kim took to the photo sharing site again to slam her former co-star as a "hypocrite".
She wrote: "My Mom asked me today ‘When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?’ Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now.
"Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona. (sic)"
