Mollie Winnard’s Lucy Fallon slap worry

Mollie Winnard was "scared" about "really hurting" Lucy Fallon when she had to slap her ‘Coronation Street’ co-star for a scene.
The ‘Corrie’ actress’ character Kayla Clifton will take things a step too far next week when she attacks and kidnaps Bethany (Lucy), and bounds and gags her, and as well as her concerns about inflicting real damage, Mollie was also hoping her breath "didn’t smell" when she had to scream at Lucy.
She said: "We had a fight coordinator but all the way through the scene I was so scared of hitting Lucy and really hurting her so it did take a while, we had so many practice runs.
"It was fun to completely let go and to let rip. It was intense but I really enjoyed screaming in Lucy’s face, hoping my breath didn’t smell."
As well as her worries, Mollie was delighted when she read in the script that Kayla would have to physically take on Bethany.
She said: "I was really excited because Kayla is such a great character to play, she’s got so much about her.
"From the moment I read the scripts I thought, ‘Yes, I can’t wait to do these!’ "
Kayla is to be exposed as the daughter of Neil Clifton (Ben Cartwright) – who groomed and raped Bethany – in explosive scenes next week, and Mollie has hinted her alter-ego could also get physical with other Weatherfield residents.
She added: "Anyone who gets in Kayla’s way is in danger, even Craig. She is walking on a tightrope, she is pretending to be someone who she is not, living a secret life and at any given moment, if anyone was to find out who she really is, she loses everything.
"She was a girl that was going to go to uni, she had prospects and all of a sudden, she is doing all this stuff that she never thought she would ever have to do.
"The love for her dad makes it all worth it and she keeps reminding herself of that to get her through."
