Mikey North secretly became a father to a little boy three months ago.
The ‘Coronation Street’ hunk – who is known for playing fitness guru Gary Windass in the long-running soap – and his wife Rachael Isherwood welcomed their first child called Archie into the world on November 10, 2016 at 4:40pm.
He explained: "We’ve been really lucky. We’ve taken him out and he hasn’t played up badly in public once yet. He always has his game face on. He always waits until bedtime to come alive. But he’s got a good temperament … I’m loving it [fatherhood]. It’s the best thing ever. I’m really enjoying it. It was the next step for us."
However, although all is well and good now, Rachael had somewhat of a traumatic delivery and almost had to have a blood transfusion after she lost a litre and a half of blood because doctors accidentally cut through a vein while performing a episiotomy.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: "I had to have an episiotomy but unfortunately they cut through a vein and I lost one and a half litres of blood."
Mikey added: "She was so close to having a transfusion but somehow got through it …
When he was born they took him out and passed him to Rachael, so there was bliss at one end. Rachael was just happy that he was here and healthy. At the other end it was just carnage, it was like a chainsaw massacre going on in the room."
The couple – who got married in January last year – were just thrilled when they could go home and have their newborn to themselves but it didn’t take long before an argument broke out over what they were going to call their little bundle of joy.
Mikey said: "It’s just Archie. He has no middle name. We had a massive argument and just couldn’t agree at all. From when I was a child I’ve always said I wanted my first son to have my dad’s name, Martin, as their middle name. But Rachael wasn’t having it."
Rachael added: "We just thought it wasn’t worth it in the end and we should keep it simple. I just thought Martin didn’t sound right."
