Mike Tindall wants his daughter Mia never to be "scared of anything".
The retired England rugby star, who is married to Zara – the second-eldest grandchild of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh – is determined to bring their beloved two year old up to have the courage to face anything life throws at her.
He said: "I don’t want her to be scared of anything. There’s a line from a Will Smith movie ‘After Earth’, ‘Fear is a choice.’ I like that concept because if you choose not to be scared of things, you can achieve a lot more."
Mia’s mum is a British equestrian and Olympic silver medal winner and her father was the England Rugby Captain and part of the 2003 World Cup-winning squad.
The couple had similar childhoods growing up in the countryside – Mike in Yorkshire and Zara attending boarding school in Gloucestershire – and Mike thinks their two-year-old daughter has inherited her parents "robust" nature.
He said: "She’s definitely inherited the robust side of both her mum and her dad. But that’s exactly how Zara and I want her to be; that’s how we grew up. We just get on with things and she definitely does that, too.
"She loves being outside and is full of life. One of her favourite adventures is sitting in the cockpit of a tractor and playing with all the buttons. Who knows? Maybe she’ll grow up to be a farmer."
