Michelle Keegan feels honoured to have played Tina Moore in ‘Tina & Bobby’.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress starred alongside Lorne MacFayden [Bobby Moore] in ITV’s adaptation of Tina’s memoir about her time with the former England captain, and as the final show in three-part series aired on Friday night (27.01.17) the brunette beauty took to Twitter to bid the role an emotional farewell.
Alongside a picture of herself and her co-star in action posted on Instagram, the 29-year-old star wrote: "Aaanndddd that’s a WRAP !! Tina and Bobby … What a story … What a journey … What a series Thankyou to ALL involved and thankyou for all the incredible support. It’s been an absolute honour. All my love Michelle/Tina (sic)"
Meanwhile, the real life Tina has revealed she was planning on saying no to a biopic about her relationship with her late ex-husband – who died in 1993 at the age of just 51 after losing his battle against cancer – whom she separated from in 1984 and divorced two years later, because she didn’t think anyone would be interested.
She told The Sun Online: "When ITV first approached me I said, absolutely not.
"I didn’t think there would be enough drama and thought no one would care and that there wouldn’t be any interest in it.
"I’m still amazed that there is. I had a few meetings and I didn’t agree for a long time."
Tina says watching Patsy Kensit, 48, portray her mother Betty was heartbreaking.
She said: "It’s difficult to see my mother, I cried when I watched Patsy playing her.
"You know what, I’m very proud and I feel this was the most fitting tribute.
"My mother was the most elegant, gorgeous woman and I loved her dearly and the fact she’s been portrayed so well is brilliant.
"She was beautiful and to see her have these lovely things said about her makes me so happy."
