Michelle Dockery wants a crossover between ‘Downton Abbey’ and ‘Peaky Blinders’.
The 37-year-old actress is reprising her role as Lady Mary in the movie version of the period drama and although it would seem that ‘Downton’ has nothing in common with the crime drama both stories are set in exactly the same era in Britain albeit in different locations.
Michelle thinks there could be a way to unite Downton’s Crawleys with Peaky Blinders’ Shelbys and she could see Rob James-Collier’s alter ego Thomas Barrow fitting in well with Tommy Shleby’s gang in Birmingham.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, she said: "It would be amazing. Do you know, there is a scene in the film with Rob … and I thought, ‘Oh my God, it’s like looking at a scene from ‘Peaky Blinders’, because he has got that whole look going on."
However, Michelle doesn’t think her character Lady Mary would fare too well if she was dropped into the ‘Peaky Blinders’ world, especially if she came up against Aunt Polly, played by Helen McCrory.
She said: "Mary’s tough, but I mean, put her in a fight with Helen McCrory, I’m not sure she’d win…"
‘Peaky Blinders’ continues on BBC One on Sunday (15.09.19), whilst the ‘Downton Abbey’ film hits cinemas this Friday (13.09.19).
