Michaela Strachan wants to take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘Springwatch’ presenter revealed her biggest disappointment is never being asked to take part in the TV dance competition and implored BBC bosses to give her a call.
She told Event magazine: "I’ve never been asked to go on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. I wonder if producers overlook me because of my dance background, but if they’re reading this, come and get me!"
Michaela, 50, is worried that show bosses have never approached her to take part because she is a trained dancer but she hopes this won’t stand in the way of her achieving her dream of competing on ‘Strictly’.
She explained: "I used to be a can-can dancer. When I was training as a dancer I formed a little can-can troupe with some of the girls I was studying with. We did a lot of shows – the biggest one was a charity do at the Royal Albert Hall. We did a 15-minute can-can, which was totally exhausting. I was hoping to meet a wealthy man, but I ended up swapping numbers with a gatecrasher who had blagged his way in."
In 2014, Michaela revealed that she had had a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery following a diagnosis of breast cancer but she has overcome her illness and is feeling better than ever.
She recently said: "I feel so blessed that I’m strong, I’m healthy and fit, my life hasn’t been compromised and I’m feeling great.
"Yes it was a tough time but I feel like I’m really lucky compared to a lot of people."
These days she lives in South Africa with her partner Nick Chevalier and their son Oliver, and comes back to Britain for work.
She said: "I went 14 years ago, I’ve been there a long time. I come over, do a solid amount of work, and I go home and I’m a mum. No one knows who I am and I live a very different life."
