Michael Shannon won’t let roles rule his life

Michael Shannon doesn’t get "tangled up" in his parts and let them rule his life.
The 41-year-old actor envies actors such as Daniel Day Lewis who get "totally lost in the part" but the method acting technique doesn’t work for him.
In an interview with The Guardian newspaper, he said: "I’m not one of those people who get tangled up his parts. If anything I don’t take it seriously enough. I envy someone line Daniel Day Lewis. Makes one movie every three years, gets totally lost in the part and then everybody says it’s the greatest thing ever. I’ve never really had that experience and I don’t really know why.
"I guess there’s something uneasy about me. I guess I’m definitely in touch with uneasiness. So maybe that’s the thing. Maybe I’m always in such a state of complete and utter turmoil that I only notice it when I’m working."
And with a growing family- he has children Sylvia and Marion with his partner Kate Arrington – Michael feels that work can sometimes take over.
The ‘Midnight Special’ star always wants to have time for his kids but accepts sometimes when he’s in the middle of a shoot his opportunities to hang out with his kids are limited.
He explained: "I mean, I never thought I was capable of being a father. But I also never wanted to be one of those parents who leaves the kids with the nanny. But it an be tricky sometimes. The work takes you all over."
