Michael Patrick King: Sex and the City has one more story

‘Sex and the City’ has "one story" left to tell, admits filmmaker Michael Patrick King.

The 59-year-old director insists the story of Carrie Bradshaw and her girlfriends Samantha Jones, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes – played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon respectively – isn’t over, but remained cryptic about whether he would helm a sequel to 2010’s ‘Sex and the City 2’.

He told Entertainment Weekly: "The great gift or riches or luck is that I worked on two shows that were so full that they spilled over into people’s lives and the characters were rounded enough that you could still wonder where they are.

"Sarah Jessica and I both know what that final chapter is. That doesn’t mean it will or should be told, but I do think there’s one story left. Whether it ever happens is a whole other situation. But there’s four girls, and those girls are still in my mind. There are other stories to tell and characters that haven’t even been written yet."

This comes after Parker revealed she isn’t ready to throw away her Manolo Blahniks just yet and would happily reprise her role as style icon Bradshaw on the big screen – as long as the sequel happened in the near future.

She previously confessed: "A part of me thinks there is one last chapter to tell. But timing is a peculiar thing. It isn’t a decision that can wait forever. I don’t want to have to wear muumuus [a loose dress that hangs from the shoulders]!"
