Michael Parr says his ‘Emmerdale’ alter-ego is an "an ar****le".
The 32-year-old actor plays Ross Barton in the ITV soap and his character has descended into cocaine addiction after he was scarred during a vicious acid attack earlier this year.
During Thursday’s (16.08.18) dramatic episode Ross’ drug taking was revealed and he ended up kicking his new friend Ryan Stocks (James Moore) out of his house when Ryan tried to talk him out of using cocaine.
And Michael took to Twitter to slam his character and mourn the end of the bromance.
He tweeted: "Coked up Ross is an ar****le right? Loved working with @jamesmooreactor though. I would like the bromance to return! Would you?"
James replied saying he loves working with Michael.
He wrote: "Back at ya mate. Great scenes! You’re the biggest party animal this side of the dales bud x."
He added: "Really enjoyed tonight’s ep. @MikeParrActor was fantastic as always- so much fun to work with, and quite literally the life of the party! Thank you all for your wonderful tweets, having the time of my life in this role."
James also praised Michael’s acting and defended him when a viewer hit out at Michael for how mean his character was to Ryan.
One Twitter user wrote: "People of @emmerdale: Wasn’t it heartbreaking to hear the content by one aimed at @jamesmooreactor’s RYAN. You’d almost think one would lament with the other about being rejected at birth & left for dead. What a scabby way to end a soap. Thanks a lot @MikeParrActor. #Emmerdale (sic)."
A furious Michael replied: "How would you know what goes on set? It’s a storyline you plonker. It’s our job to play it.
"You should know…seeing as you don’t know how the rest of the story pans out…that the line had it’s purpose. Soaps deal with affairs, stabbings, shootings, acid attacks. Real life events. Friends falling out is just another subject, buddy. Calm it."
And James added: "I think we can agree that the ending would not have been as tense without that line. It gave Ryan an actual motive to be upset, without it the scene loses so much. Ross isn’t always the best bloke, but @MikeParrActor really is."
