Michael Douglas: My legs are ‘too skinny’ to do a period drama

Michael Douglas won’t star in a period drama because his legs are "too skinny".
The 72-year-old actor has no plans to appear in a period movie or television show as he doesn’t think his legs would look good in breeches.
Asked if he would consider a period drama, he said: "If it’s a good script. But I’m not good in breeches – my legs are too skinny."
And Douglas is looking forward to performing at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, London and enjoys doing Q&As with the audiences when he takes to the stage.
He added: "I’m always happy to do audience Q&A’s. I’m happy to talk about anything – politics, religion, showbiz – and hopefully we’ll get a couple of giggles in."
His wife Catherine Zeta-Jones spent two years of her life at the same theatre, starring in the West End production of ’42nd Street’, and Douglas is keen to uncover some secrets in the dressing room.
He explained: "I’ve always wanted to see the dressing room where she spent more than two years of her life. She will be in LA when I’ll be there so she won’t be able to give me a tour, but she told me what to look for in her dressing room – the secrets in the corners."
Douglas has had a lengthy film career and played many different roles but he feels he is most like his character in ‘Romancing The Stone’ in real life.
He told Metro newspaper: "I’d like to think I’m like … Jack Colton in ‘Romancing The Stone’ – he’s a great character. That’s my romantic image! There is always part of us in every role we do. The thing is with me is every one of my films has been contemporary, realistic. I seem to be attracted to that grey area, where people are not heroes or villains."
