Sir Michael Caine is wanted for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ after revealing he and his wife are huge fans of the show.
The 84-year-old screen legend "made a beeline" for co-host Tess Daly to let her know about his and spouse Shakira’s love for the BBC One ballroom and latin contest, and she is hoping he’ll sign up this year.
Tess – who hosts the programme with Claudia Winklemen – told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Sir Michael Caine is a huge fan of the show.
"I met him once at an awards ceremony and he came to me – made a beeline for me – and said that she and his wife Shakira never miss a show, so he would be top of my list, Sir Michael Caine. That would be a good booking wouldn’t it?"
Tess, 48, would also like a member of the British royal family to compete, particularly the queen’s granddaughter Zara Tindall, however she is expecting a child so is unlikely to be up for it.
She said: "I’ve been desperate for a royal for a long time. I know Zara’s having another baby and she’s on my wishlist."
Princes Charles’ wife Duchess Camilla featured on the Christmas special last year.
The 70-year-old royal is close friends with judge Craig Revel Horwood and was taken for a spin by professional dancer Brendan Cole, when the pair completed a Cha Cha Cha.
The dark-haired hunk said he was worried whether or not he would be "breaking " royal rules if he didn’t ask Camilla if she’d like to hit the dancefloor.
Brendan said: "She knows her way around a dance floor – don’t you worry about that.
"She was absolutely delightful, I didn’t know if I was breaking protocol or not but I did ask her if it was OK to ask her to dance, and she said ‘I’d love to’.
"I thought somebody was about to grab me by the scruff of the neck and kick me out."
