Michael Buble to host BRIT Awards

Michael Buble has been announced as the host of the BRIT Awards 2017 and says it will be an "honour" to take control of proceedings.
The 41-year-old Canadian singer will helm the annual UK music awards ceremony, making him only the third non-British star to host the show in its entire 40-year history.
In a statement, the ‘Haven’t Met You Yet’ hitmaker said: "It’s a huge honour for me to host such a big night in music. Even though I didn’t grow up as a Brit I’ve always been well aware of the BRIT Awards and their impact globally.
"As a fan of music this is the perfect gig. I’m very much looking forward to February and celebrating the success stories of a great year in music."
Buble has been nominated for three BRITs during his career, and although he has never actually won one, he is still one of the most successful artists in the world, having sold over 32 million albums globally.
The ‘Feeling Good’ singer will take over hosting duties from presenting duo Ant and Dec, who had decided that 2016’s ceremony would be their last.
Even though he is known as a musician, this is not the first time Buble has fronted an awards show as he previously helmed the Juno Awards in Canada in 2013.
BRITs Chairman Jason Iley is thrilled to have secured the services of Buble because he is such a "charismatic" entertainer.
Iley said: "This is a huge coup for The BRIT Awards and we are delighted to announce Michael as our host for 2017. He is an extremely talented and charismatic world-class entertainer much loved by the British public. Michael will add an exciting element to our show in 2017."
The BRIT Awards take place on Wednesday February 22 at London’s O2 arena and will be broadcast live on ITV.
The 2017 nominations will be announced on January 14 and will be shown live on a primetime ITV Saturday evening slot featuring special performances from acts in line for prizes.
