Melanie Griffith says splitting up with Antonio Banderas gave her "freedom".
The 58-year-old actress filed for divorce on June 6 2014 and to mark the two-year anniversary of their split, she took to Instagram to share a message which read: "I filed for divorce 2 years ago today," along with a praying emoji.
She added: "June 6th, 2014 #lifeisshort #starting over #lifeisbeautiful #lovemykids #freedom (sic)" before later deleting the entire post.
Melanie and Antonio married in 1996 after meeting on the set of their film ‘Two Much’ the previous year and their marriage was officially dissolved in December 2015.
They have a 19-year-old daughter Stella del Carmen Banderas together.
Meanwhile, Melanie recently revealed she wants to find a suitor who is fun-loving and happy with life, but she is yet to meet a man who has perked her romantic interest.
She said: "Somebody who likes to enjoy life, that’s what I want. Somebody who’s not just involved with himself, enjoys lots of different things."
Melanie also shared she has not yet had one single date since her marriage ended – but she is hopeful her love life will become more active soon.
She said: "I haven’t met one person that I want to go out with, not one guy. But I imagine there are some out there somewhere, hopefully I’ll meet one.
"It’s a whole new world out there! I’m having a blast. It’s all new, I feel like I’ve got a second chance. It’s all really good."
Antonio is currently dating Nicole Kimpel, 36.
