Mel Gibson has sold his former love nest for $2.1 million – despite buying it eight years ago for $2.4 million.
The 61-year-old actor may be in the running to scoop a big trophy at the forthcoming Academy Awards but it seems the lavish mansion he once shared with his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva hasn’t proven to be hot property as he’s just flogged it for less than he bought it, according to the Los Angeles Times newspaper.
The ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ star snapped up the property, which boasts four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms as well as a library, in Sherman Oaks, California, through a blind trust back in 2009.
Mel had lived in the home with Oskana and their seven-year-old daughter Lucia but, when they split in 2010, it was agreed that the blonde beauty and their child could live in the house until the youngster turned 18.
However, a new agreement was made earlier this month when Oksana was told she would now receive an extra $10,000 in child support a month, taking her payments to an estimated $30,000, from her ex-lover.
She had initially asked for a reported $100,000 a month in the original documents when she and Mel were fighting over child support but they finally settled on the less amount, under the condition Oskana moves out.
It’s now thought she’s renting a property in Malibu.
And the sale has come at the right time for Mel as he and his new partner Rosalind Ross welcomed a little boy named Lars into the world last month.
He said previously: "He great, he’s growing, he’s eating like a little pig and is doing just great.
"He even smiles. Two weeks old, he has a grin going, so something’s funny — I don’t know what."
As well as Lucia and Lars, the Australian star also has grown-up kids, Hannah, 36, Christian, 34, Edward, 34, William, 31, Louis, 28, Milo, 26 and Thomas, 17, with his ex-wife Robyn Moore.
