Mel C claims the Spice Girls were "never asked to perform" at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.
The 44-year-old singer has insisted the ‘Wannabe’ hitmakers – also made up of Mel B, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner – were not invited to the upcoming Royal Wedding, which takes place on Saturday (19.05.18) at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, as a group.
She said: "First of all I should clear up the invitation part of it – we weren’t invited.
"We were never invited, we were never asked to perform … and I was a little bit annoyed, actually."
Following the royal snub, Mel admitted she considered asking Harry’s father Prince Charles why the ‘Say You’ll Be There’ hitmakers weren’t invited to Saturday’s ceremony when she was at The Prince’s Trust Awards in March.
Speaking on Australian radio show ‘Fitzy & Wippa’ on Nova FM, she added: "I was here in London and I was doing the Prince’s Trust Awards … it’s always nice to see Prince Charles, we do have some history.
"You know, back in the day with the girls and the bottom pinch and the lipstick on the face, so it is nice to see Charles, he’s a lovely, lovely man.
"But I felt like going, ‘Oi – where’s my invite?"
Mel’s comments come after Mel B claimed the Spice Girls – who got together earlier this year to discuss potential reunion plans – were set to perform at the nuptials.
When asked in February if she would be attending the event, she replied: "Yeah I’m going … I don’t know if I should’ve said that."
Mel was then quizzed about whether she knew anyone else who was going to Harry, 33, and 36-year-old Meghan’s big day, and she replied: "Well us five Spice Girls … why am I so honest?"
When quizzed on whether the group would be performing she threw her cue cards up in the air and then said: "This is where I’m just like … I need to go. I’m going to be fired."
What’s more, further speculation this week has claimed Victoria, Emma and Geri have all been invited to the Royal Wedding – but there has been a double Mel snub.
A source said: "Only Victoria, Emma and Geri were invited, so clearly, the Spice Girls were never going to perform."
While the Spice Girls don’t look likely to be playing at Harry and Meghan’s bash, the Royal Wedding has led to an influx of millennials booking accommodation in London.
Generator, Europe’s design-led hostels, have announced that bookings made by millennials for Generator London this weekend are up by 55 per cent year-on-year.
And 72 per cent of bookings for the wedding weekend have been made specifically by the demographic.
