Mel B’s relationship with her husband Stephen Belafonte works because he’s "funny" and "gorgeous".
The Spice Girls singer has been married to the film producer for nine years and says their home life is good because she is still besotted with him.
In an interview with the Daily Mail newspaper, she shared: "We just get on. He’s a funny person. I like him, which is important. We’re just really good friends and I think he’s gorgeous and a nice person. And I fancy him, which helps."
Mel, 41, also thinks her honesty has helped her marriage to Stephen and has been an important factor in her success on the stage and small screen, especially for her talent show jobs.
The ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge – also known as Scary Spice – said: "I’m a very honest person – but over the years I’ve learnt to be a bit more tactful."
When asked if she has ever wished she could keep her mouth shut more often, Mel incredulously added: "That’s like wishing I’m a different person. Why would I want to do that? (I can say) I’m not a grumpy person. It’s a waste of energy sometimes, making an effort to be grumpy when you can just get on with it and stop moaning."
Mel – real name Melanie Brown – has a very hectic life with her career and her three daughters, four-year-old daughter Madison with Stephen, 17-year-old Phoenix with her ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar and Angel, nine, with Eddie Murphy.
The ‘Wannabe’ singer has started to practice meditation to de-stress each day.
She said: "It’s nice to take 20 minutes out to just sit and forget about everything. I don’t do transcendental or anything – I just do my own thing."
