Mel and Sue to present The Nightly Show

Mel and Sue have landed a new presenting gig on ‘The Nightly Show’.
The former ‘Great British Bake Off’ hosts – whose full names are Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins – have been announced for ITV’s new weeknight show, which will feature different presenters over eight weeks, joining the likes of David Walliams, John Bishop, Davina McCall and Gordon Ramsey.
ITV’s comedy boss, Peter Davey said: "We’re really excited to be launching this bold new show."
The series, which has been described as a mix between ‘Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ and James Corden’s ‘Late Late Show’, is due to air next month at 10pm every week day and will shift ‘News at 10’ to 10.30pm.
The entertainment programme will reportedly be recorded "live" at 6.00pm each day.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, if the show does well in the first 40 episodes with ratings it could be extended by bosses.
It was previously reported that Mel and Sue were to present a new show like ‘Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’.
A source said: "Mel and Sue are firm favourites on the BBC, and while Mel is currently on Gary Barlow’s ‘Let It Shine’, bosses are more than eager to get them back as a duo."
Since leaving the BBC’s ‘GBBO’, Mel joined BBC’s talent show ‘Let It Shine’ and in October it was announced that they would both host ‘Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief’.
Meanwhile, Sue recently reveled she made the decision to quit ‘GBBO’ "in a heartbeat" when she was told it was moving to Channel 4.
The 47-year-old presenter – who has co-hosted the culinary contest since its inception alongside her comedy partner Mel – admitted she and her friend didn’t need much time to consider their future on the show and are confident they have made the "right decision".
She previously said: "We made the decision that felt right for us, and it was made in a heartbeat, really.
"For us the show was best at its original home and we made no secret of the fact that that’s where we wanted it to stay, and whilst I respect that it’s moved on, it was easy… well I say easy, of course it’s very sad to say goodbye to something you love, but it’s definitely the right decision for us."
