Meghan Markle put off choosing her outfit for Pippa Middleton’s wedding reception until the last minute because she didn’t want to clash with Duchess Catherine.
The ‘Suits’ actress turned heads when she rocked up at the socialite’s evening ceremony, held at her parents’ home in Bucklebury, Berkshire, on Saturday (20.05.17) in a maroon backless frock but was so concerned about wearing something too similar to her potential future sister-in-law that she enlisted the help of her friend Jessica Mulroney.
A source told E! News: "Jessica is a fantastic stylist and is smart enough to know that, as well as making sure Meghan looks her best, they also need to be mindful about what Kate is wearing. The last thing anyone would want would be for them to be in a similar colour or design. Meghan would never want to attract the wrong kind of attention."
Meanwhile, it’s not known for sure why the 35-year-old actress – who has been dating the prince since last year – wasn’t invited to the wedding but it’s thought she decided to stay away in order not to take the attention away from Pippa and James Matthews as it would have been the first official event she and Harry had attended together as a couple.
However, Harry, 32, was determined not to let his girlfriend miss out on the event and made a 100-mile round trip to collect her from Kensington Palace in London in the afternoon so she could attend the reception in the evening.
